Hi.
Just make sure proper glass is installed if you're not going to run OEM.
Thanks to my PO, I almost lost an eye when a tiny rock hit my windshield, dead level with my eyes.
Lucky for me, I was wearing sunglasses on a rare occasion.
A hundred or so little pieces came flying all the way to the back, hitting people sitting in the jumper seats.
Turns out the glass handled the damage on the outside, but shattered on the inside around the area of impact.

Just an experience I wanted to share. I am willing to pay the extra for OEM any day from now on.
cheers

That doesn't sound like windshield glass !!!

Hey ! I found one here from a local cars glass company for 30.37$ (CDN$) ... someone find a better price ?

That price is so low I would suspect something is just not right. If it is legit, jump on it. Sounds almost too good to be true and you know what they say about that.....................

There is a lot of windshields coming out of china. My glass man offered me an FJ60 windshield , installed,
for 139.00. He was nice enough to tell me I'd probably need another within the year.
There is good glass and bad glass. Asahi, (toyota's glass people) build the lens' for Pentax Cameras.
That credential alone puts it at the top of the heap... Or you could go for the glass built my the company that build snowglobes for grandma's mantle.

the old man bought some glass for his 42 a while back..i think it was around 150 cdn from the dealership...

but can you still get OEM glass for earlier(69)..i was under the impression it isnt available anymore

The windshield is cut by the company itself. When I was asked if there was this kind of glass ... there was nothing in the system. Then they took an old dusty books on a shelf at the bottom of the office and find dimenssion inside. Then I cut a window for me. When the lady was watching the price, she exclaimed that there must be a mistake on the price ... but still made me pay the price ...

I'm not sure they make that mistake two time... ?

OK ... I must apologize here! I thought they cut themselves MY window ... in fact they can cut glass if they have the specs ... but my actual 30$ glass comes from a Chinese company "Fuyao" (FG). Grrr !

I install my glass in the gasket, then into the windshield frame and there is a very small space on each side! Almost 4mm each side if I set the windshierl gasket the deppest I can on the windshield frame. I still can "play" with the weatherstrip to make the glass tight...

however it's write LANDCRUISER on the glass sticker !

That's where I went now. I will see if a little bit of sealant can correct the problem.

If not... I'll go to the dealer !

Windshield part no. varies by year..

56111-90303 $237.51 list, $178.13 TLCA discount from Jeff at Champion Toyota, Houston plus shipping, one in stock.

BTW, this has doubled in price since 2006. I last bought 12/06 for $79.54 + the ride. Makes having it cut locally that much more attractive. Cdan will not ship glass.

Part no. 56111-90303 looks like it's for Jan '75 and later USA.

Part no. 56111-60040 was for Jan '69 to Jan '75 but was superceded by part no. 56111-90800 which, sit down, lists for $579.42 discounted to $435.43. I suspect this means the part is discontinued, but a Toyota dealer could confirm.

I believe the early glass is discontinued.
I ended up buying the later-model glass and have it custom cut by a shop.
The glass man said that he would only cut it, if I agreed that if it broke during the process, I wouldn't hold him accountable to it. Luckily he did a fine job of it, and it fits great so far.
Wow that number has sure gone up since I made my purchase in June 2007 for about $320 CDN.
cheers.

Hey Kroll,

From what you're saying, the '75 and later glass is larger than the '69 to '74 glass. Do you remember about how much the difference in size was? I think I'd prefer OEM Toyota glass (and avoid some of the alternatives mentioned above.)

Hi.
I wasn't present when he did the job.
But I remember that he removed my old windshield, and used it to trace the cut-out for the new one.
We're probably talking less than 45 mm of trimming in either dimension.
I can't imagine it being such a big difference.
