Windshield-Frame Anticorrosive Treatment???

I just picked up my new (factory, steel) windshield frame yesterday. I'm wondering about sealing the rain gutter lip, which is currently just folded and spot welded. My original frame has some kind of sealant which I assume is original.
Would Sikaflex or something similar be appropriate?
