I need one of the fine, outstanding, incomparable members of MUD to send me the EXACT location of the two dash holes for the defrost vents on a 1980 FJ40. I will be adding OEM Defrost vents and really don't want to screw it up.

Thanks

Here's what I have. There isn't a real great place to measure to/from but hopefully this makes sense.

There is a nut welded to the back of the small hole.

Some measurements:
I'd call it 1 13/16 from the center of the light switch hole.

And vertically.
From the bottom edge of the dash pad.

One more thing, the center of the small screw hole is in line with the center of the light switch hole as best I can tell visibly.

Let me know if you need anything else or if I can clarify anything.

What diameter is the vent hole? 1 3/8? What size is the nut/threaded hole? thanks again.

I want those vents too. Mine was ordered without the "high attitude option". A very poor choice, even for a man living in South Carolina.

Post up a wanted add. I did and received several replies. There are some nice sets available.

6mm x 1.0 nut

The hole is closer to 1 5/16. I guess it would be whatever metric number is in between 1 3/8 & 1 5/16

I realize this is a dated thread, but is there a kit/way to add these on to a fj40 that did not come with the package? In Iowa in the winters there would be amazing!
