My 80 checks in at 7400# x 1.5 = 11,100#. Thankfully the M10,000 warn winch takes care of business 👍🏼

Hey @pappy got any updates on your M8000 with 9.5xp motor? howd it end up working out? Im thinking of doing the same to my M8000-s. Its already got the contactors on it. I like how small the m8000 is but its a little underpowered for my fj60.

I did a few hard pulls with it and it seemed to do fine. The one thing I learned is the planetary gears used on older M8 winches were not as strong as the newer versions. There is a part number change along the way. I have a newer serial number.

Ive got a newer one too. with the more rectangular free spool switch an the contactor box. Think it was worth the upgrade? Im assuming its got a faster pull speed now, but the m8000 has a lower gear ratio than the 9.5 so im thinking its more power all around too right?

That was the theory that prompted this question. I can only assume going from 4.5hp to 6hp has to help. There was no way for me to empirically test this. At this point it hasn't hurt.

haha thats true. Im running the 8k winch on my 60 series so its really pushing the stock "theoretical" limits of the winch. Ive not had any problems yet with it but i havent had to do too bad of pulls with it. I got it because its smaller and also i got it for like almost half off when it was new. Would be nice to bump the power up some on it though for peace of mind

Using a pulley block you may never exceed the operating parameters of that venerable winch. I have the same with the power pack upgrade on the 4Runner and every time I pull the cable, it makes me smile. She's a workhorse 💪🏾

You have done the 9.5 xp motor on the M8000 as well?

He is letting me be the guinea pig.
I think im going to be right there with you on this. Im going to try it on mine. I dont have warranty on mine since im the second owner of the winch so might as well give it a shot
