Who bought Wilma?

Not me. All my crap has floors. :flipoff2:

Well that would be me.. I go down to Mike's to start picking up parts this week end. I'm not quite the fabrication .parts collectiong /lawn ornement/4runner grave yard having internet presence as Foxfab.
But I have daily driven a cruiser of some form since the early 90's. I daily drove a 40 for 7 years and then moved to DD a fj62, due to an expanding family and sold the fj40. I always regreted selling it, but I told myself I would get another oneday.
then the idea changed to a 45 of some sort and I have been stuckk on pipe dreaming about a fj45 for years now. I bugged Mike weekly once he got Whilma "hows my lv" I would like to think in some instances keeping him going. knowing his affinity for things "mini" and need for things 2 door. i told him I wanted to be first in line if he ever sold it.
So my plans are alot like Mikes first order of business is to get the 2f in and running then start on the body work(ie get floors in) then p/s get it painted and put back together and registered then think about the lift.
I already have a set of 6 16x8 3.5"bs fj40 hub capped wheels that were widened by stockton that I had done for my fj62 but when I swapped in a the rear fzj80 axle i had another set made with 5.25 bs the wheels have a 2 year old 10,000 mile set of bfj mt's on them. so that will be the rubber for the lv for awhile. While Stockton makes excellent wheels iI waited along time for each set. so long in fact I decided to keep the unused se tknowing how long it would take to replace them:)
I have been reading most of the threads in the fj45 area and have found all the information extremely useful. I down loaded the color swatches and plan on painting it factory colors and colr scheme. i don't think I will take it back to the lily white and salmon but and leaning toward a lily wwhite and river blue or grey combo thats along way off so we'll see when the time comes.
last i suppose i should change my user name in that it doesn't suite represent my growing harde of 2 cruisers:)

Congrats Jason........you will be a great 45LV owner :)

it was when you first posted pics of your fj45 removable hard topped lwb pu that the need for one started to arise and then you got the 350ed lv. while it looked a tad rough, to me that was the chit. had to have one

If i can create a hole toyota alphebet for Mike's vin plates and shift plates for his fj25's i should be able to work with what you got

If you don't know of Jason's artistic talents, check out the 25 section :)

Don't fret all, I will still be heavily involved in rare Cruisers. I just didnt want this one to sit while I work on the current project. I have a few more LV parts in the works

well I made the first trip to Fox's to pick up lv parts. yesterday. I was able to load the doors hood glass seats fenders and other loose body parts into my fj62 and trailer to bring home to startcleaning up and getting primed.

the plan is to get the 2f in at Mikes then bring the rest of it to my house in December sometime, which should work out fine in that I have more thean enought to start with in the body parts i brought home yesterday.

here are a couple piccs of teverything getting loaded up.

Ok I have started to get rolling on Wilma. have gotten my primer, built a painting booth in one bay of my garage. with an exuast fan and drop down drop clothes to keep the area enclosed. came out decent . anyway I have wire brushed and aircraft stripped just about all the loose parts (hood, passenger side doors lift gate, bib, aprons, bezel tranny hump, side panel and tail gate covers ect. ect) and then put 2 coats of epoxy primer on them. all in all they look decent many steps left before real paint, but as I got started i had a few questios on what other people have done or will do.
1) I cleaned out and shot the inside of the doors with primer. are poeple painting the insides of the doors with a finish coat or just leaving as primer top coated. I do plan to Dynamat the insides of the doors so it might not be that important.
2) ame question as above but for the hood what do people generally do with the underside of the hood. on my old fj40 I would just spray some rattle can black every once in awhile but this isn't my old fj40:)
3) next up to clean and prime are the fenders. which brings up what people are using for the under coat, and what do people paint the insides of the engine bay, same as the color on the outside of said peice or something different?
$) and lastly, for the moment, as I take the doors apart how careful do i need to be with the window felts and the windowscrapper thing at the area where the window enters the door? are there replacement peices or do i need to be extra careful with my old brittle ones?
thanks
will try and post some pics later this week

I think I am going to paint the inside of the doors. It won't be concourse but it will make me feel better knowing the rust demons aren't in there. Underside of all LV hoods would be black along with the underside, firewall, and inside the fender wells. The FJ40s from 64 and up seemed to have the underside of the fenders painted the body color as well as the aprons and bib. These were all black in the LV models. As far as undercoating goes, it was standard on the LV and an option for the other models. I haven't looked for felt yet, I am hoping it is available somewhere.

thanks that is good info. that is nice that i won't have to waste so much expensive paint on the insides of the bib and fenders I am thinking the under side of my fenders will be the chassis black I use on the frame (and engine compartment/ firewal)

did you get your stickers?

my thoughts for the inside of the doors was some rattle can marine engine type paint, in that it was really hard to get my spray gun in all the nooks and crannies of the inside of the doors. to me it looked like the inside of my doors were bare metal!! i don't want to leave them bare though.

I even got to drive it today. even if it was only being towed by a bobcat and my seat consisted of a tire. but when we pushed it backward up the driveway it really felt like it was driveing ... ecspet for the fact I was on a tire, could see the ground was holding up a muffler from dragging with my foot. and there are no doors or glass in the truck it really felt like i was driving:)
not sure how much more weight she can loose. anymore and her name will hav eto change to Mary Kate. but we got the chevy 327 out of it today and got he engine mounts from the donor 87 fj60 out and beed blasted. as well as slpped the 31's from the donor fj60 on it for its "lift"did a bunch of other little odds and ends but basically we got it ready to swap the 2 f in,(and moved a bunch of fj25 stuff from one bunker to another in Mike's yard) :p
unfortunately I never broke out my camara. maybe Mike you could snap some pics of the progress tommorow:)
Jason

my cc is hurting. I hit the SOR sale yesterday and got a bunch of stuff for Whilma. got a
carpet set
door panel set.

got there new header to go on my 87 2f
firgure I will wait on the upulstry kit. i got hte carpet set to cover up lthe lackk of floors:).
i am lame about taking pictures, hopefully will get my own ddigital camera for christmas. but i have all the doors hood bib, interior panels and everything loose not attached tot he body and frame stripped and epoxy primed.. just need to get the engine mounts and engine in and then she comes home. then I will post pics.
Jason
