well a work trip to hawaii later and I am back workin on the lv. I mind as well have been in Fago 12-13 hour days and no time off but atleast I made a fair amount of overtime to afford the new floors. and met some cool people.
anyway I got back and decided to start jamming some more body parts. I probable should have waited but one thing that had been bugging me was going to be my ability to shoot paint on a vertical surface. so while my goal was to painthe gutter line on the outside adn the headliner to metal line ont he inside I kind of painted a bit more than one normally would for jamming. i also wanted to see how my body work was going to look.
It all is going to get sanded anyway but I was pretty please with the results. i also got a couple coats of paint on my new aircleaner. I bought it on ebay because it looked black and shiny come to find out it just had a fresh coat of paint over rust. so it needed a bit more work than I thought it should. anyway here are some pics

i have been making steady progres on wilma that last week or so. mostly an hour or 2 at night after the kids go to bed or a couple hours on the weekend. I got my brake booster in and the clutch master and was making them fit and work on the firewall.. I also have been painting some put in about 8 hours of sanding and leveling the hood the under side is painted and the top side is ready for jamming going to head out in a minute to shoot the paint on the top side.
my huge house project for the winter is finally done. so I will have more time for the lv... maybe... that said house project was the collection and excavation of my front yard and driveway to build a field stone wall. I ended up having to get 12 loads of rock in my CDN-M101 trailer ofcourse most of those loads required getting the rock into the back of my freshly SOA on 35" tired trailer. more fun that way really it is. Anyway here is a link to pics of my wall and steps. my piles of dirt are still frozen so I will stillhave to wait a few weeks to back fill in the dirt and get the landscaping in but atleast the hardscaping is done. in the index of the link go to the pics at the bottom of the list to see the finished wall.

Ok I got the hood shot last night the underside I did a couple days ago. i started off just wanting to jam the top but got carried away in wanting to see how it will look. i am glad I did cause I can see some areas that will need some more sanding, but atleast its another body part jammed and ready for assembly. next up for painting/jamming fenders and doors (3 left)

ok i got a few hours in last night. I shot my river blue and some clear on a mess of stuff. which consisted of jamming the blue portions on a front door. painting the bib and the 2 piece bib bracket and cause they came yesterday the rear disk brake brackets.
side note on the brake brackets i got them from Poser on Mud for alot less then the larger venders are selling them for as well as a set of rotors. very impressed with the quality. I was shooting blue so that is the color they ended up.
after the blue i shot clear on everything but the door jamming. the pictures below are of everthing this morning one side note on my lovely paint booth one aspect that is not evident but you can kind of see is that i drop a drop cloth around the area on 3 sides then cover the windows with some large sheets of cardboard I put a fan in one of the windows and put a couple of furnace filters in the open spaces that the fan doesn't take up.... just like Matt's booth:cool:
well it works for me atleast so far still not sold on my ability to shoot the final body coats but that is a ways off anyway.

I have had a fair amount of time with wilma the last week or so. I started on the firewall project and have made decent booty fabbin progress. I even took some decet pictures as well.
first I tried to take the short cut. I tried to move the hole for the brake booster over an inch on the stock firewall so as to be able to fit a brake booster side by side with the clutch MC. after much affort it looked like chit and really wasn't working out well. so iI went the smarter route and got a late model fj40 firewall from my local toyota yard (foxfab) and started to work on cleaning everything up for the swap. I got a couple kewl tools for the project from Eastwood. since I don't have a plasma cutter I was worried about the cuts. So I got a panel cutter that attaches to a drill. it worked very nicely and the spots it was not quite able to get too I torched out.
So my plan was to cut the new firewall big and the new hole for it small so as to get the spot just right. a bunch of trimming and grinding and I got it to fit in with the new pedal assemble attached. so I tach-ed it in and now start welding it all in. there are some gaps here and there so the welding in process might take me a bit of time but once it is all smoothed out I hope it won't be that noticable.
well here are a bunch of pics of the progress as I went.

oh and one last thing I had not accounted for but it is another reason why I am glad I made the swap is the later model steering colum set up. most notably as seen in the pic directly above is the bent brake pedal to allow for the colum and the larger opening.

lets see where to start. was able to make some progress in a couple different directions this week.I'll start off with the firewall. i finished it up its all welded in and skim coated and primmed and looks purdy.I sanded it down and re- applied the skim coat a bunch of times. anyway I took some shots during the whole process.
