Ok I have cleared the garage of my ohter cruiser projects and now plan on spending some quality time with Wilma. although I have been building a field stone wall and regrading the side yard which is a bit more of a project than I thought it would be but aren' they all
Anyway I am getting the doors back together and leveled and need to get a few more peices of weater stripping. so far I have the front windsheild gasket and2 others for the rear side windows and the vent window rubbers. I also searched and found and ordered the door weather stripping from JCWhitney today
so all I need now is
all four window felts
and the rear hatch gasket (I think this is the same as the fj40 rear hatch???)
and the rear hatchtailgate opening weather stripping.
any help with these part numbers or sources would be extremely helpful

Jason,

Everything I ordered for Weathstripping I ordered from JC whitney. I posted some part #'s on my 65 lv thread towards the end I think for Mark, I'm going to have to look though?

Should have the part #'s for the window felts and the rear hatch.

I'll see if I can find it.

Matt

I know for a fact I have a post with several part #'s of all the stuff I ordered from JC....still looking.....anyone else?

Matt

there where only a couple of numbers posted and they were not the exact format the JCW ues, but I did figure one out. Matt, can you look back thru your receits or call JCW and get a history of what you ordered? They have a million different moldings so it will be tough to figure out just looking on line.

Do you know where I posted those? I remember posting them, but can not find them....

you did post some numbers, but I remember when I went to JCW web site, the numbers you gave were in a shorter format than what there search feature used so I was only able to find one of them. Last word was you were going to try to call JCW and get them to give you your purchase history. I will see what I can find on my end b/c I think I saved it or BMed it. I will repost if I find anything.

Ok here is what I have found from Matts build thread. I wish someone would make a rubber sticky. :) That sounds kind of funny.

Window felt bought from TLC - 6 ft lengths?

Door jamb mold from JCW # SJ132562B
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/...1&sku=SJ132562B&searchbtn.x=14&searchbtn.y=16

I got hosed at the drive-thru with TLC and window felt. Supposedly sent 2 in a PVC tube, when it showed up it was empty. I called and after a few minutes of bantering back and forth the guy on the other end pretty much said.....oh well........

So......no window felt was ever used from TLC....nor will it ever be used for that matter. I realized then that I would have to figure it out on my own and go through JC whitney.

I will goto work on on some part #'s and see what I can come up with from JC.......

I search the middle of Matt's thread pages 40-80 and did window felt searches and came up with the door weather stripping if are able to add a sticky we should prolly add the vent window and windsheild as well.

I have made some progress on Wilma. for the year I have owned her this is the first time I have gotten a door on her.:bounce: I have finished up the body work on the rear doors and tailgate and am starting on the front doors now. plan is to finish the body work hang them and finish off any for body work and get the paint line then get them off and jam them and paint the inside and put them away safe in the basement until the floors are done and the inside is painted.
but i am happy to be reesembleing the old girl for the time being anyway.
I have my work cut out for me getting the window hoops reinstalled. all of the hoop mounting studs snappe off either before dissasembly or during. I have all new harware.
those that are fabricators tell me if this sounds kosher. my plan is to dril out the studs on the hoops and tap the hole. cut the head off the new bolt and using the double nut technique threa the new stud intot he freshly tapped hole. then either a small tach weld orjb weld it. I suppose a pic or 2 of what i am talking about would help will take one at lunch.
anyway here are some pics of the doors on

ok I got a few hours out in the garage last night. a bit chilly.
anyway I got my front doors out and a coat of filler and skimmed over the dents and scratches. then I decided to tackle the hoop issue. I had counted out 10 studs on all four hoops. so I started with a rear door hoop. I had to extract the broken stud and get a new one in there. first one took an h yo the other 3 on the hoop tok 10 minutes but I was very pleased in that this was an issue that had been knawing at me since I dissesembled the doors a year ago. I took a bunch of pics but they all focused on the wrong area this is the only one that is slight ly coherent. anyway that is one of my new studs in the hoop. I had to grind down the stud flush with the raised rectangle of metal. then drill out the remainder then tap it screw in a new bolt tack weld it from behind then cut the head off the bolt.
well thats my progress so far

wa able to get many hours of body sandinging a bunch of coats of filler that was all sanded off. it is really starting to look good and straight.

got a bunch done mechanically today.
fellow mudder Leaping deer came down today to help out . my plan was to check a few of mechianicals that I had started and not finished yet then tape off the doors and jam the insides and edges. anyway he hopped under to attach the clutch fork and quickly discerned I had put the throwout bearing and coupler on backwards doh!! .so we figured to just pull the tranny back and flip the bearing and bolt it back up............
well the pilot bearing decided to stick to the end of the transmission shaft and caused us all kinds of trouble. when all was said and done we basically redid the whole clutch job.but we did it correctly and i can really cross that off my list of things that need to be done. and now I have a better understanding of how the clutch and clutch slave cylinder works. oh well I'll jamm the doors later.
a big thanks to Jason we took a bite out of the project.
the last few days I have been doing alot of sanding of the door jams and stuff. it seems i can't quite get it pefect but it is coming along and looking pretty good.

yeah color!!!
shoot some clolr on the tail gate and the driversside door. those two doors pretty much take up all of my spray corner:D anyway I taped off the cut line and shot the lwer river blue color on the jams and seams. i got 3 coats on it came out nice ofcourse my pictures are horrible bt thta is pretty much status quo for me unfortunately. you would thingk as a graphic artist i would get the hang of the digital camera thing plus my brother is a photomate int he navy but eventually I will get better.
anyway here ae some pics....
hopefully get some more progress a bit later
