Because there's nothing left in NO to destroy. :D Just kidding.

Ther is a cold front moving south that this one will run into. The counter-clockwise rotation of the storm system will make it veer off the cold front to the NE, which is the sharp right turn you see in the forecast path. Much like a cue ball hitting the cushion with right side english applied.

Time to go buy some limes and Corona.

Crazy. I wasjust going to post this up for the capt then I saw this post. Sorry Capt.

Thanks Troll. My house is on the east side of Florida, approximately 5 miles from the coast and about 15 miles south of where the projected line crosses the east coast. All the surfers are getting excited, including my 2 daughters. Dad will be gassing up the empty 5 gal. cans and squeezing all the lawn stuff and vehicles into garage come friday if this projected path holds true.

and then will be driving north to SC to drink corona....you left that part out Jim

You Got that right, Chuck. The revised track map above now has the center of the projected track right through West Palm Beach. Upstate has always looked good to me. If this crap keeps up, I may be up there permanently sooner than I expected........

Swweeetttt....another trail truck and someone to drink more beer with....what could be finer than capt jim in south caroliner!!!!

8:20 PM Tuesday:

The revised track now shows the storm going right thru my back yard, no, maybe my front yard. At any rate, the track has now shifted south and now goes right thru WPB. The only thing I dread is putting the storm shutters up and having to drink warm beer.......

Ditto

This could be a biggie. If so I say party at your place when ya'll arrive
in the Upstate .  :flamingo:

What Dave Said!

"Its confirmed pressure readings Wednesday morning dropped to 882 millibars — the lowest ever measured in a hurricane in the Atlantic basin, according to the hurricane center. The strongest on record based on the lowest pressure reading is Hurricane Gilbert in 1988, which dipped to 888 millibars."

Not looking good

Well, just cancelled all my jobs for thurs./friday. Going to start putting the second-floor shutters up this afternoon. My wife is at the food store. I suspect if the track holds true, there will be no school friday.

Got my new roofs on and raised by insurance coverage limits after last years hits. Should be good to go. :D

We Will say a prayer for you, your family and Barry. I'm sorry you are having to deal with another storm.

Hey Jim I got cold beer in my fridge for ya! All ya gotta do is head North!

Thanks for the good words Guys. I always welcome prayers and cold beers. :)

Worked til past dark-thirty tonight putting storm panels up. So far, 17 windows boarded up, 34 to go..... :frown:

Lots of really intense cloud formations today. Some evening lightning and just recently, some rain started falling. These are the outermost edges of this system. There are little or no winds.....yet.

My wife did the grocery thing today, I fueled up the diesel, test started the generator, and met with my neighbors to re-establish our support tactics. 2-way radios, etc. Great group of self-sufficient, gun-toting, shoot first-ask later, group of people back here in the woods with me. :D

Once I get ready, which should be by friday night, I almost welcome these things. It's the poor bastids who do nothing to prepare that :crybaby: after they get hit. I say, let 'em fend for themselves. :flipoff2:

Hey FEMA: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

live in miami and was at one of the home depots today at around 3:00 p.m. and there was more than the regular amount of people. don't have shutters so went to get some plywood and tap screws; and i had to fight for them! my house was hit by hurricane andrew and it held up really well so i am confident that this one won't take too much. i am just waiting for the hurricane season to end so i can replace all the roof tiles i have lost this year and the ones along the concrete fence as well. also stacked up on the rum and coke and some food; jeje. just got to fuel up! just pray that the cruisers don't get hurt; no garage for me.

T.
