Will 1979 FJ40 Seats fit in a 1977 FJ40? (2 Viewers)

Will a 1979 FJ40 Passenger seat fit in a 1977 FJ40. I ask because I know the gas tank was relocated in 1979 to the underside of the body and in 1977 it was under the passenger seat. Thanks

Someone may say different but we tried to install a pair in a '77 and no go. I'm sure there's a way to do it if you do a lot of modifying

the slides are different. It will not be an easy bolt on type thing and you will need to get creative with some steel.
I'm part of the "we" Thornton mentioned though.

You might be able to drill out the front angled part of the slide and bolt on the straight part of the earlier seats. Seat rail components are riveted together and a PITA to modify.

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately, does not sound like 79 seats will fit in 77 w/out some modification or fabricating.
