My wife bought a $59.00 portable jump starter from Home Depot that can charge on 110v, has a flash light, can charge either through a 12v plug or straight off the battery, and comes in a redish orange case. I know it is not the Husky Elite. Anyone know which one she bought as she already wrapped it up for Xmas and I need to see how good or bad this thing is.

I live pretty far away from the nearest Home Depot so just stopping by and checking which one it is is not practicle and I cannot pull it up on the Home Depot web page. Thanks, Dan

Tried that, its not on the web site and she will kill me if I unwrap it just for that.

How heavy is it? Most of the times, you can judge the capacity by the weight, if that's what you're worried about Your description applies to almost all of the jumpstarters out there, the only thing I could think of is that it might be a black and decker model becauese of the reddish orange case.

I wouldn't worry too much about it as they're all pretty much the same thing. Just unwrap it when she's not looking then wrap it back up again.

I bought the same unit and I like it. You can recharge it on the vehicle 12v system, or at home on standard household current. I picked mine up a year ago.

White shark, do me a favor. Compare yours to this picture. Does it look like the exact same but a different color? I think Husky renamed it / bought the rights and sold it as thier own. Here is the info on Xantec's powerpack:

XPower Powerpack 300EP

Backup Power for Emergency Preparedness

The XPower™ Powerpack 300 provides you with power when and where you need it most. With 300 watts of AC power, an LED flashlight, a 250 psi compressor and booster cables, the
Powerpack 300 is the perfect companion in almost any emergency situation.

The XPower Powerpack 300 gives you the power to jump-start your vehicle or inflate tires during roadside emergencies. Its detachable ultra bright LED flashlight makes a power outage easier to deal with. Combine this with the 300 watts
of portable AC power to operate small appliances
or recharge electronics, and you have the
power to be prepared anytime, anywhere.

Does it look exactly like this picture , except color, with the same options? Are they the same? If so, does it start your cruiser (engine size?) if the battery is dead?

If the one I have to compare is the wrong one, what is the model number on yours or anything that I could use to find information on it. Thanks in advance, Dan

Dude, you are so totally macking on the xmas gift! Step away from the package!

Funny, but not like that. I was there when she bought it and planned on doing a bit of research to see if I wanted to keep it. Before I could write down any of the information on it, she wrapped it up and guards it with a shotgub so I can't tear it apart just to look at it now.

Most of us would consider this a hint. Perhaps even one of nature's subtle warnings that if you wish future procreative experiances you should appreciate the thought behind the gift even if on Christmas day it might be only 80% of what you want, if you really knew much about what you wanted in the first place.

At work we have had good success with even the cheap chinese power packs.

OK maybe I should be more clear, she wants to know which one she bought to know if she needs to take it back and get a different type of jump-starter but since she wrapped it and she is obsessive that way, she wants to figure it out rather than destroy the wrapping paper just to see what model it is. The tape she used is supper sticky and it will mess up the paper just to look at it.

She puts up 4 xmas trees for christ sakes. She takes Xmas very seriously. Anyone want to help me put up those lights outside and watch the power grid explode?

Slickrock, that unit is actually different than the unit I have. My unit is primarily for jump starting a vehicle, but it also has a 12V port for other applications. It works well as a separate long term 12v battery pack for the kids DVD player, etc. It also has a LED flashlight unit built in. The unit can be recharged on 120v household current, or 12v vehicle current.

Sorry I missed your follow up post, but from looking at the picture, that looks like a pretty cool unit. Bigger and badder than mine though....;)
