This is not just about the 200 series, it is on ANY car or truck.

The homelink works if the auto is on or off. So if you are parked in yoour driveway and take your garage clicker inside with you every time, then all they need to do is pop your windows, and push the button.....and they are in your house.

I have never programmed a homelink system.

Just an FYI!

I guess they assume that if you have the $ to buy the car then you can afford a garage to put it in.

Programming is easy, just look at the manual. I believe the homelink programming is pretty much the same for all makes that offer it.

Homelink on Mercedes Benz does not work with the car off. Nor does it work on my 100.

It works on my 100 with no key anywhere near the truck. But x2 on the garage statement. All of our vehicles are in the garage whenever they're at home, unless I'm washing them or working on them. Even then, I usually work on them in the garage.

edit: Also, get a monitored alarm system, a dog, work out a safe room, and keep a gun handy (preferably in .45 ACP or 12 ga.).

The Homelink in my LX will continue to function even with the key out and it turns off after a while.

My homelink only works if the car is facing the garage. I gotta move the car into position, just to open the garage. This position won't open either of my garage doors:

BTW, there are much easier ways for a thief to get in. Why not just kick-in a door, on break a window on the house?

i stand corrected. homelink DOES work on the 100 with no key. only works with key on my other 2 cars (MB)

Homelink in the '03 Audi A-4 we had only worked when powered up with the key.

Homelink in the '04 Volvo XC-70 worked with or without the key/power on.

The garage remote in our '99 100 doesn't care .

I agree...I would prefer Homelink to only work when the key is in the rig.

The homelink in both my ford and my VW only work when the key is present, I agree that this is the way it should be

How many people take their garage remote with them in the house each time!

I think I have better things to worry about than someone breaking into the house using my homelink.

if they are going to break the glass on your car they can break the glass on your house too. I have had so many things stolen from my vehicles i want to go american history x on their a$$ and curb em all.
