I just purchased a 2021 LC200 with 28k miles. It came with a hidden winch in the front, King suspension and sliders. My original intent was to take this vehicle out west and maybe even drive to Alaska (I am in Michigan).

What I am wrestling with , is that the truck is a cream puff. Spotless exterior and you could eat off the underside as it is a California truck. The PO really took care of it. I'm thinking is it too nice to take on those trips I was planning? Wanting to add a LRA fuel tank, rear bumper and drawer system..

So, do I say what the heck and mod it the way I want and use it for what it was designed for? Or, sell it and get a higher mile example that I wouldn't be bothered with what happens.

Looking for any and all viewpoints.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

I say use the truck. It’s already modified, adding bumpers isn’t altering a stock truck. I don’t see how what you have planned will harm it. My biggest concern would be taking a perfect truck and driving on salted roads…but no concern over trips out west. Maybe if the plan is to turn it into a rock crawler, find something cheaper. Otherwise go for it

No question here, use the truck. They were rolling these right out the factory and into war zones.

We bought ours new and had it modified before even seeing it. As soon as we hit 1k on the clock we were towing our camper and hitting trails. It’s a Land Cruiser, not a mall cruiser lok

Enjoy it, maintain it, and don’t over think it.

If you already got over the purchase price of a low mileage 2021, just use it! There's nothing new today that can touch the 200 for long distance trips like you are planning, and it should be able to serve that function for you for 20+ years to come.

Add a beater LC200 to the stable.

Nice choice! PPF it if you're concerned about pinstripes but definitely get out and put some miles on that thing. There is no better vehicle for overlanding and exploring the continent. Enjoy!

Drive it till the wheels fall off.;)

In March 2018, I bought a pristine 2016 200 series and immediately took it to Moab and ran Metal Masher and Wipeout Hill, so I'm not one to ask if you should keep yours pristine.

The LRA is a killer mod and I’d definitely do that and drawers. CarPlay is also an extremely useful one as well. Once you get into bumper along with the LRA you’ll need to start looking ad suspension upgrades.

Sure, just don't take it on tough trails where it could potentially sustain body damage. Driving to Alaska certainly won't harm it in any way.

Send it, or send it to me.

Get the LRA! AND a skid for it from Budbuilt. You'll be set after that for whatever you want to do!

PPF it, and plan on getting a fresh windscreen after the trip to Alaska. I'm on the fence about the aux tank. I have a '98 and '21. The '98 has an aux tank, and it is quite nice to have the extra fuel, but when you modify from stock, there are always issues. I've not modified the '21 yet and I'm not sure I will. There's something to be said for bone-stock reliability and ease of service. You start monkeying with the suspension and fuel/vapor system and there are always tradeoffs and reliability along with ease of service is one of those tradeoffs.

If you bought it to look at it, do that. Otherwise it’s a depreciating asset, so get on with the making of memories.

As with any new / new to you car the first scratch is the worst. Then you move on.

Like others said, it’s already modified. Rock out and use it brother.

Agreed. Love my LRA. Also get a code reader to clear the inevitable evap codes…

Definitely use it now.
Tell my county tax commissioner it’s a depreciating asset lol. Compared to my other vehicles, the property tax bill every 6 months for the LC doesn’t seem to lower much over the years.
