Why no E-locker switch?

Fj80l Made in Japan NO 968

Then yes, you have a '92 FJ80 no if's or butt's about it.

The '92 had 15" rims but to use the '93+ Diffs and to clear the rear Disk brakes they used the '93+ Rims also which are 16"

Now all we are left with is identifying the Front Diff.
As stated above an actuator on the diff would be a great way to confirm its an e-locker also.

Rear is an elocker, the front is not.

Someone probably swapped the rear housing for a later unit with the elocker.

Ah, somehow totally missed the other pic of the diff in the original post.

There are a lot of good reasons to swap the Rear ONLY to a newer diff.

1. Disk Bakes
2. Full Floating
3. E-Lockers (if found)
4. ABS sensor location (you probably will never use this)

I think I can barely see an actuator there, but I cant be sure...

Yeah, I thought I could as well, but I think it's because I want to for the OP's sake. Picking up an FJ80 and discovering E-locked axles would be sweet!

The front is an e-locker as well, you can just see the bottom of the actuator here, just under the tie rod, bottom two mounting bolts and the top of the motor above the sway bar to the right of the pinion.

I think the top of the acuator is red and it looks like its wired. I will send the kid under there with the pressure washer sat. and I will post better pics, and will know more. He spent this weekend removeing the flares, bumbers, roof rack, running boards, trailier hitch, interior (in the rear), etc. I was excited to find a 92' with rear discs, but thought it was an option. The spare was also a 16" toyota, not a 15" that it apparently came with. What are the options for 35" wheels on these stock rims? Thanx in advance, L.B.

Very nice. It would be even cooler if they had some sort of switches installed already to operate the actuators... any suspicious looking aftermarket switches anywhere?

Common 35ish tire is a 315/75R16 - it's a tad under 35".

(EDIT: it's 34.5" x 12.3")

Nice, I wonder if the factory goofed and gave you e-lockers axles:hillbilly:.

Either way is great!, all you have to do now is wire everything up.

I run 315's BFG Km2's on those 16" Rims (315x75x16) and they will work well with he stock rims, You could switch back to 15" to save some $ on tire options, But you will have to space them right to fit with those rear disk/calipers..

Here's a pic of the Front Actuator, I found in this forum.

I'm tellin' ya: It ain't a US spec. 92; the flares are wrong.

OP: Does your tranny have an O/D off switch? (Indicating it's a 93+.)

Would the Data Plate have any info of Origin?

The Plate does read FJ80 not FZJ80 and build date of 6/92 which is a few months short of the 93 run.

BTW: the O/D button he's asking for should be on the gear shifter/selector on the left side.

What engine is in it? Post a pic if possible if you get more space, (buy a star to get more space.)

3f-e engine, no button on the shifter. I will look for posts on how to wire and check operation of elockers. Thanx again, L.B.

it looks to have e-lockers without the wiring, if the rear is a full float w/ discs then something is wierd (93+ axles in a 92)

But you say there is no dial near the steering column for lockers.

Its also strange that you have the later flares on a 92.

Long story short, you appear to have the good parts, you will need to get the electrics sorted but the important stuff appears to be there.

What size rims are on it BTW?

I can't seem to post the sticker picture (I have exceded my attatchments) this truck also has toyota 16x8jj rims, and the sticker says "15x6jj" rims. Maybe it is a hybred junkyard fj80. no Salvage title though. L.B

He says it has the 16s.

yep - good call. I didn't see that the first time.

elockers front and read... someone do a swap-a-roo? It wouldn't be the first time..
