Why extend bump stops. Should I extend mine? (1 Viewer)

That is the right spot where the front frame mounted bump stops located. You can use the rear bump stops for the front, all you need is just elongate the hole on the bump stops to line up with the captive nuts on the frame rails. This is the only picture I have on my truck, I’ll take better picture tomorrow.

Well I suspect mine were removed by the PO for multiple reasons. I am going to re-install a set and see what happens before I do anything else.

Obviously don't take my word for it lol, but I think they go here.

Maybe someone else can verify.
I should have mentioned that not all 80’s came with the frame mounted bump stops. They are set up from the factory to come into play as the ultimate stop. As I told you, I got tired of my inner bump stops rubbing the coils. I dropped the inner bump stops to work integrally with the frame stops but the angles were not working out at that time prior to Delta arms so I ended up eliminating them and installing aftermarket bump stops on the frame rails. Works for me but then again I’m just a low tech farm boy. We fixed that hay bailer just good enough to get the hay in before the next rain. :flipoff2:

@baldilocks so on the front you just removed the entire coil bucket bumpstops and are running, I am guessing, Timbrens at the frame?

The bump stop for the front is the tower that sits within the spring. I believe the rear has 2 bump stops per side though.

Fyi, for what it is worth, according to toyota, the thing inside the coils is a "spring follower" and the rubber blocks on the frame are "bumpers".
