. Still have it and will someday get it back on the road. And that was the start to this addiction. While driving the 60 I started noticing 80s and vowed to have one. After being Cruiser deprived for almost a year my parents were looking for a new car as the one I had bought needed a lot of work (MGB GT) and there was no way I would have it done when my older brother got back from Iraq. So I walked in on my Dad looking at Tacos and told him we needed to move people, not cargo; look for a 4Runner. Halfway down the hall I turned back and said Dad, look for Cruisers and there was one at the right price. It sure is nice to be back in a Cruiser.
no longer wanted "that old thing" and it's a Jeep thing, etc... good engine tho.
flips and leaves and I need a rig to haul kids cause the bike is not an option and my '93 came up on CL and for a good price and the kid has no idea of what the dial on the dash does, and is selling it accordingly, and I had just found 'MUD, and the rest is history.

In the middle of a long dark night on a section of I-80 in Wyoming in the mid-80's my wife lost control of the 1972 FJ55 at about 65 mph and rolled it down a steep embankment, landing upright. We looked at each other in amazement, got out, put the canoe back on top, locked in the hubs, drove up the embankment and continued on our way after explaining to the astonished people who stopped that it was a Land Cruiser and an Old Town Tripper.
A vehicle like that deserves some loyalty so I'm in the process of purchasing a HZJ80.
wouldn't let me buy a Jeep. She had '82 Toyota pickup when we got married and it had been her faithful transportation for her small landscaping business for years. She convinced me that Toyota was the reliable way to go. So I got a Tundra first. Then met up with some friends from Flickr on the Mojave Road and when I saw their 80s I had to have one:
