So a friend of mine tells me "Since you love your LC 80, you should meet a friend of mine. He has one also".
Ok I am always happy to meet a like minded individual. When I arrived I almost fell out.
So his friend has a 1997 LC. No big deal you say. He put an OME lift, Wheels, tires, ARB bumper and winch. No big deal you say.......

It has 43,000 ORIGINAL miles. The damn thing it absolutely perfect. It still has the new car smell on the interior. Not one scratch, not one scuff, motor perfect, interior perfect.

He bought it from an older couple who never drove it.

Why cant I be this lucky??????????????

What, no pics?

It's Mud.
Pics or fail.

In the words of Red Forman:
"Son, you don't have bad luck....The reason bad things happen to you...is because you're a DUMBASS!"

You gotta be in the right place, at the right time, with the right sized wad of cash!

There was one on eBay over a year ago with about that many miles that sold for $28,000. I thought it was CRAZY, but looking at things now......probably OK.

I'm the minority here most likely, but with a rig that nice, I'd never wheel it the way I do! I love my denty/dingy, 230,000 with HG done, because I wheel the HELL out of it! Swing by Kansas City sometime and I'll buy you a beer. You'll feel MUCH luckier!

You are correct. He said when he went to test drive it the guy had 3 calls on it. He paid $1000 over what the guy was asking. Get this..with the extra $1000 he paid $15,000.

in the immortal words of Harry Hogge: No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you... he *rubbed* you. And rubbin, son, is racin'.

I had a buddy with a real nice green 97, about 120k miles, purchased for just a tick over $8k. And of course my buddy pimped it till it groaned, natcherly, right? So I was looking at his manifold hotdog cooker, and there on the side of the head, big as day, was an ATK temp tell-tale. Jeez, talk about some people having all the luck. But then I got to thinking, "how come this thing, with less that 200k on the odo, has an ATK motor?"
Point: none.
Sorry.

Sounds nice, but I couldn't possibly see $28K for it. The parts aren't used as much but plastics, etc. are just as brittle as one with 250K on it.

Nonetheless, pretty cool. Much cooler with a lot of pictures though.

You know there has to be other 80s out their like that one, and some lucky individual will break out in their happy dance when the title is signed over to them. $15,000, now that's a deal.

I've heard of ATK, seems like they got a good thing going. I'd be curious what a reman goes for.

Not to brag, but OK maybe a little...

I got that LUCKY! Bought my 93 3xlocked in Nov 2013 with 51k miles from original owner, garage kept, never been wrecked, all stock. They had it listed at full KBB ;) arrived with cash in hand and of course talked them down some but they wouldnt budge much as they had received over 30 calls in the 1/2 day it was listed.

Left feeling like the luckiest guy in the world that day!

It now has 70k and is my daily driver and I am slowly moding it, making sure to keep all the original parts...

If someone wants to give me $28k, I will take it! :)

They were pricey 15-20 years ago when I was buying them for customers, but the quality was always there, excellent warranty, unless you melted the button.
I never had one with a problem, and if a customer was willing to spend the bucks for one, they were usually willing to cough up the extra coin for all the goodies to make sure it was happy. The only issue I ever had were install-related, because they were frequently JDM motors, and sometimes had different mount setups for engine-driven accessories or slightly different manifold attachments, stuff like that, but it was never anything that couldn't be solved with a little creative thought.

The price of 80s has come up in the last couple years for sure. At $15K I would say it is at the top of the for sale numbers I have been seeing.
