I picked up a Slee 2nd battery tray second hand and have done some searching for a suitable battery. My tray is designed for some kind of Optima battery, but the instructions did not indicate which model. But, from the results posted here, I think my tray and the others are practically the same. Using this BCI Group Number/Size chart, I found batteries at Batteries Plus that "should" fit the 2nd battery tray and NOT contact the hood. A few of the battery groups I found to be appropriately sized have already been posted here. I have not yet picked a battery, but I will soon.

The MT7-75DT Interstate battery this thread is based on has been replaced with MTZ-75DT, which is a Group 75/86, according to Interstate.

Which is better for auxiliary ...?
OPT8040-218
or
MTZ-75DT

thanks

How come this one is so cheap?
I’m now on the hunt so did you end up getting this battery for your tray... If so any thoughts?

Also I’m trying to figure out if this battery actually qualifies as a deep cycle battery or if just being an AGM battery is good enough, if anyone has any thoughts on that as well please chime in.

Yes, it fits the Slee tray perfectly. Not sure about whether it is deep cycle though. I have fridge, ham, and USB outlets attached to it via a Blue Sea fuse bar and 3 relayed switches. So far so good.

Bump

Any more battery information out there?

I went with the X2Power AGM from Batteries Plus with the Slee tray. It was a little more than I initially wanted to spend but it fit fine with a little room to spare… if I were to do it again I’d probably get a cheaper battery that would fit (probably the $99 one at Costco) to start with and then upgrade only because I’m not super hardcore with needing the weekend refrigerator stuff… That said I’m glad I did it and it works flawless so far.
