31, married, kid on the way
GolfCourse Superintendent(yes I like Caddyshack)
bought a 60 because the owner of the course said i'd like it, bought an 80 when the opportunity came up...my wife has officially claimed it

Demographics: 32 yo, married, no kids, employed as a scientific programmer in the biotech industry

Reason for owning an 80: I was originally looking for a vehicle that would tow 2-tons, got great gas mileage, would go anywhere regardless of weather (wife works in a hospital and has to get in in bad weather), was sporty and fast, could handle rough-unpaved roads (to get me to where the big fish live), and handled like it was on rails.

Since such a vehicle does not exist, I ended up keeping, rather than trading in my current vehicle ('92 MR2) and adding a TLC to our stable. I didn't originally plan on an LC as I thought they would be out of my price range and had been looking at 4Runners. It happened that someone near where I work was selling a clean '93 LC which I bought on the spot. The wife was less than pleased with the purchase (having approved a 4Runner, not an LC) and affectionately refers to it as "the monster truck I bought without asking her" ;)

ok i'll keep the thread going.

Deep love obsesion with Suzuki Samurai's :o and Cruisers  ...

Thinking of swapping the Lexus badges for Toyota because people don't like to see a young guy driving an expensive truck. I here it every day. Someone is getting paid too much money...

The LX450 is the only vehicle sold in Canada with fr/rr Electric Lockers (other than the Rubicon) and 99.999% of the original owners don't know what they do. Although it does not fit on ATV trails like the Samurai.

i just "invested" about 45 minutes of my time to read this thread. the best part about it was that i found something in common with pretty much every person here. whether age, occupation, musical interests, goegraphical location or other. i want to thank each and every person who has bothered to post and encourage other lurkers to do the same.

here's my bio, and yes, i often get paid by the word...

35, married, no kids, four dogs (great dane, 2 rhodesian ridgebacks and a basenji).
to pay the bills, i pretend to be a business consultant (self-employed) for the past four and half years. i keep very busy and avoid out of town work as i would the plague.

we live in western loudoun county in virginia. it's the very western edge of the DC metro region. nice area, mostly horse farms and deer herds.

i knew that i NEEDED a cruiser when we we at the beach on the outer banks many moons ago and tried to keep up with an 80 in the dunes. i had a qx4 and was just awestuck by the abilities of that 80.

my rig in my foul weather commuter and weekend workhorse. i use it to haul anything and everything. people are often floored when i tell them that it's eleven years old and has 100K plus miles on it.

anyway, thanks again to everyone for posting and reading my post.

41 Married 20 years in May. Police officer in San Antonio Tx. Got the Cruiser as a hand me down from my wife with the intention of selling it. Drove it about a week and decided it was mine for good.

Yes it is true, I'm a Canadian that is not a huge fan of Socialist Government.

The Quote means more to me in regards to standing up for what you believe in and not letting the MAN hold you down.

The funny thing is that it's not an American Independence war cry. Emiliano Zapata was responsible for the Mexican revolution and his guerilla army were known as the "Zapatista's".

Besides, it's a better fit for a prodominately American forum than "Stick it to the Man!". and it is much more insparational.

P.S.

Us Canadian's aren't all...

...Gay marrying

...Diesel Hippies

Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.

After buying american cars my whole life, I finally gave up being an unpaid R&D test
driver for the big three and bought a new Camry in '97 (120K miles now and still runs
like new). When I decided to buy my first SUV , my only requirement was that I buy
the best SUV made. I bought my LC last year with 109K miles on it and it runs better
than any new car I've owned ( with one exception). Chances are it will be the last SUV
I'll own.
