currently 3 Cruisers-
recently acquired 97 40th sage locked and for now the wifes DD, but there is a future here :)
89 wagon owned since 91...soon to be eldest's DD...and no I am not ready for this
73 40 all mine

First encounter with LC was in high school. A friend of mine had a mustard 40 that his parents bought him new (bassturd). We did a lot of hunting and wheeling in his cruiser way back when...loved it. At the time I was built for speed so no cruiser for me. Came close in 1984 to getting one...but my work really dictated a truck so I bought a SR5 xcab 4x4. I was living in Columbia SC at the time..and damn if my neighbor didn't own a 78 smurf blue 40. We wheeled, fished and hunted together alot and my little truck definitely held it's own but alas not a cruiser. Age and kids caught up with me in 91 when it became obvious we "needed" a cruiser :) enter the wagon. Picked up my 73 a few years back and am slowly futzing with it...but it is tough as I enjoy driving it too damn much. Picked up the 97 wagon in September for the wife to get her out of the Land Rover...which reminds me. I gotta go bump my add in the 4sale section. Surely somebody knows someone with a defective gene that wants this !

Mechanical Engineer - Biomedical field

Married, no kids yet, gotta have time and $$ for the cruiser ;)

Acquired my first LC, a 97 FZJ80, in 2002 and never looked back. When we do have kids, I will be trading the wife's car (acura) in for a 100 series :)

When I'm not cruising or wrenching, I am usually rock climbing.

So do you make prosthetic climbing tools then or what? :D

Bought my first 80 just a few months ago. Got a great price and couldn't pass it up. Recently sold my 2000 Jeep Wrangler figuring it was time to grow up.

I liked my '91 so much I bought a '96 2 weeks ago. Plans are to let my wife use the '96 as her DD as soon as I get the running boards off and the mud flaps on. Just found out tonight that it had the head gasket replaced before I bought it. I hope the mechanic knew what he was doing! It looks like it was done right.

I spent a lot of time reading the pages in this forum. I found a LOT of useful information. The members seem very knowledgeable and willing to help out.

Vehicles I've owned based on order of purchase:
`84(?) Nighthawk S, '89 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce, '86 4Runner, '93 4Runner, '94 Miata, '99 4Runner, '01 Tundra, '89 911, '97 M3, '95 C36 AMG, '00 TJ, & '95 FZJ80. I might have forgotten one...

I bought the FZJ80 last year when I happened across an overpriced yellow 80. :)

I still have the TJ but should get rid of it for a vehicle with 18+ mpg...

I never realized this board was filled with such edgumicated people!!

31 Years Old
Single (but soon to be married - couldn't delay it any longer)
No kids (at least none that I am aware of)
Certified Public Accountant working in International Accounting for a large consulting firm in Philadelphia.

I have always had a LIFE LONG love of cars, trucks and all things mechanical. In my quest to find the perfect vehicle, I stumbled upon information about the Toyota Landcruiser. The more I read, the more I was fascinated. Inline 6, solid full floating axles, and what other luxury SUV offers locking differentials from the factory ?!? Insane! I HAD to have one. Finally bought a 1997 with Lockers last year. I absolutely LOVE this vehicle. Unfortunately so does the soon to be wife. She drives it every day while I drool.

I am looking forward to buying my next 80.

I was 35, then 36 and I am now 37

I think I have the least schooling of the list (at least on the 80's board that is :D )
I went to Logging school "Timber Harvesting Equipment Operator"
I found that driving a truck pays more. So I haul cranberries in a semi.

I had many Hilux trucks. Then kids came, so I moved to Previas with Al-trac. Did some wheeling in them (they do fairly well) till I found a FJ60 in CO on vacation with the family (it became a split vacation as the wife had to drive the Previa home)

I keep the 60 till I had it looking and running great...With nothing else to fix on it I bought the 80 with 208,000 mi on it. I had to sell the 60 to pay for parts for the 80.
I plan on keeping it till I have nothing else to fix on it. The way it look now, I should have it for years  as the more I fix it, the longer the "to fix" list gets

I also have a TuRD.

Single, too damn ugly!

Mechanical Engineer - Machine Designer in the automation field.

I've wanted a cruiser since my school days, but could only afford to buy one in May of this year, since cruisers are very expensive in South Africa, paid $23 000 for a 95 in immaculate condition, no mods or extras, with 110K miles and everyone thinks it's the bargain of a lifetime...........and I'm earning SA Rands at R7 to the US$.

Attending BYU while teaching SCUBA on the side. I've dropped out twice and they keep letting me come back. College life is great.

Read a lot about Cruisers during high school and convinced my dad to buy one. He sold it to me in 2002 for what a dealer offered him towards a trade. I got a screaming deal. Since then I have cried a lot as my bank account seems to be empty a lot, but I don't think I will ever be able to get rid of the Green Monster.

Hey! I like watching my wife drive up in the 80. Besides she thinks I'm drooling over her. My son cries when she leaves in the 80. My wife says he cries when I leave in the 80. I think this kid has his priorities straight.

26 and married with no kids-

Work part time as a Research Agriculture Assistant Manager for a small company that manufactures scientific instruments that measure water properties in soil and food.

Also attending school full time studying small businesses.

I fell in love with my first Cruiser back in 93 when the local doctor drove around a new 80. It was the nicest ride in town. His son was in my class and so I saw it almost everyday at school when his parents would drop him off.

I have always had my eyes on them and never thought I would ever own one but when the opportunity arrived I couldn't keep myself from buying an 80.

Now 5 months later, I am still amazing myself with how sweet my 95 has been. I will never buy another vehicle except a Land Cruiser.

Later-

Married w/ 8 month old baby girl. Life is good.

Worked as a machinist and welder while working on a Mechanical Engineering degree. Went to work for a tech company. Got an MBA. Currently a cube dweller. Working on putting together a decent garage shop since the wife promised me I could when I quit the fun job.

Had a 1980 Toy 4x4 for a while in school. After buying the first house(fixer upper) bought the 86 p/u to haul crap. Always thought 40's were really cool, but never had the cash to buy one as a toy. Bout a month after babycakes was born we had the Accord completely filled w/ baby stuff for a weekend trip to the folks. Decided that we could never fit all our camping gear + baby gear + baby in the Accord. Read a post someplace(not here) about a guy w/ his family going to Tahoe in his 80 when some asshat in a 300z broadsided him doing about 80. No intrusion into the passenger compartment, but the Z was accordian-ed. That + all the research + friend who loves his + desire to have a vehicle that would be very difficult to get stuck camping = nicest and coolest vehicle we've ever owned.

Dang, i've let this post be for a while, guess it's my turn.

26 years old
Single, hopefully not married for a long while, oh, but i got a yellow lab.
Got a degree in Forest Management from Western Carolina University.
First job was building and installing network servers for a bank (BB&T), second job was selling motorcycles (lasted about 3 months), now i'm working as an Environmental Scientist (Engineering Consulting Services) during the week and help pit the #23 Stacker 2 Busch series car for Kenny Wallace on the weekends. Hope the weekend job becomes full time.

Always wanted a 40 since i knew what a vehicle was. Not sure why, just engrained i guess. Parents wouldn't let me get the neighbors cherry 40 completely restored for $6,000 as my first truck. Parents said a 20+ year old truck wouldn't be a reliable first car. Friend of mine bought the damn thing right out from under me. The 80 was my favorite but couldn't afford one. Finally could afford the 80 a few years ago and haven't looked back since.

Worked in marketing for a catalog company, then got my Real Estate license so I could be my own fawken boss.
Live in rural VA with the in-laws while building a house. First cruiser was FJ60, stock but in good condition. Loved to drive it....until we discovered a FZJ80 in CO. Flew there and bought it sight unseen and it is now the daily drive with a few mods (ARB lockers, winch, ARB bull bar, TJM bumper, sliders, roof rack, snorkel, on-board shower, GPS, HAMM, CB, rear drawer unit with power hookup, second battery and fuse box for the added sundries, USB port, oh yeah...and Turbo (thanks Nick). Hoping to get our hands on a FJ40 or FJ55 to outfit for major trail riding. :D
other vehicles include a 99 honda accord, 00' honda civic (commuter car) and we still have the FJ60 which will soon be for sale.
