Hi all,
Long time member, but it's been awhile since I've been active on the forum.
Back in my day (2006-2010ish) I used to get all my parts from CDan. Do we have someone that's a good parts guru with decent prices these days? I'm looking to replace the belts, crank seal, and oil pump gasket on my 1993 FzJ-80.

Thanks!

You’re the first person to ask this question.

Ribbing aside, it’s been discussed multiple times and as recent as last week.

Howsabout a link, so others looking here can move on with confidence? :)

Nope. The music died unfortunately when both Dan and Onur retired
from the parts business. Like so much in life we often don't miss
things (or people) until they're gone, figuratively speaking of course
(they're both still alive and chime in now and then).

There are a few dealerships that have online parts departments,
Norwark in Kali and McGeorge in VA are two.

Here's a link to a previous discussion:

For rebuild kits and the like with OEM or good quality aftermarket parts, I've purchased from Cruiser Outfitters (e.g. non-OEM, but made in jpn tie rods, axle rebuild kits, etc).

For modified fan clutch, double cardan ds, and other cool "curated" OEM bits I went with Wits' End.

For transactional OEM parts that's easy to pick-up, avoid shipping, and at a fair discount I go online at Norwalk and pick-up at the dealership (e.g. OEM glass).

I've found that Amayama can be much cheaper than Norwalk Toyota (e.g. steering gear) so searching around can pay off.

Onur's posts are invaluable. Sometimes it's a pain to sift through it all, but the help/expertise is there to be found.

gl!

Thanks for the help all! (exception of course for the mod 🙄😉) I’ll try hitting up Norwark. My local dealership is just not super helpful or knowledgeable about the 80 scene. Way back in 2009 I did a write up on the oil pump seal and front main but naturally did not include part numbers. Special shout out to @Kernal for the helpful PM!

My local dealer ship has been great and to keep my business they beat online prices when they can. They will just spin the monitor around and hand me the mouse so I can go nuts searching parts but 9 times out of 10 I have the part number in hand.

McGeorge has the best prices and a decent webpage, but they are not Land Cruiser experts. I’ve had the best luck wheeling and dealing with my local Toyota dealers, I’m now near wholesale pricing with the one close to my house.

I have used toyotapartsdeal, and just placed a large order with Norwalk - they have a mud discount as well.

Effectively makes my CA sales tax 7%.

I think you're stating the obvious re Land Cruiser experts. I am aware of just two so far and they've both sunsetted. You're ahead in the pricing game. Near wholesale + no sales tax? Awesome.

Partsouq and other sites have the Oem catalogs, makes finding a part pretty easy and it’s kinda fun seeing all the parts of a system and learning about the parts catalog system. Making an excel sheet helps with keeping track and comparing prices.
Can’t find a part? Ask on here, people are always helpful with that it seems.
Then it normally comes down to either partsouq or for bigger parts, a dealership or online place in the states with the largest % off “msrp”

If you're in AK, shipping from the lower 48 is going to be crazy expensive (I am sure you're used to that), unless you find someone who is willing to ship using flat rate boxes. Maybe Fairbanks Toyota doesn't know 80s, but they can get whatever part you need, without crazy shipping costs, right?

Partsouq is definitely best for small items, I don't think their prices are as competitive on heavy things since shipping gets pricey. For something like brake rotors I'd price it at the domestic dealerships too.

I still miss the Scott Tate days, way back when. Wonder if he still has his '59 Toyopet...

The good thing about ordering from Norwalk is they limit the shipping price to 100 dollars, no matter what the part is...ie I ordered a full set of rotors, and other misc. parts; 100 dollars to ship, and it was still better then half the price had I bought it locally in Fairbanks...
