White Knuckle Sliders on GX 470

Any 03-09 4Runner rock sliders should mate the the GX470 as long as it doesn't have KDSS.

I read somewhere where somebody was saying the bottom of the doors were maybe a bit different in relation to the frame...like the bottom of the GX doors were lower than the bottom of the 4th Gen 4Runner doors (in relation to the frame)...and thus, some of the 4runner sliders that are more angled upwards could possible cause the GX doors to hit into them. I did not see any pics or any actual confirmation so not sure if it's true or not, but it's made me weary of the ones that look more angled.

That being said, I've been looking at Stubbs sliders and they've stated that all their 4th Gen 4runner sliders will fit the GX.

Bumping this. Did anyone ever try the WKO sliders on a GX?

on GXOR, there are at least 2 people using these.

Any 4th gen 4R sliders will work with a non-KDSS GX. Same wheelbase and frame.

hi all... it's been a couple years since this thread was bumped. WNO advertises GX470 sliders now, and i'm assuming that more people are using them. any feedback?

I have them as well. Welds and powder coat are excellent and installation was a breeze with a helping hand. The packaging was also very good.

Excellent build quality. Got the heavy ones.

Installed them by myself using a floor jack with a centered 2"X 6" finding a easy balance point. Used two jack stands, one on each end, and quickly starting the U bolts for safety. Piece of cake installation.

Solid as a rock and can easily jack the vehicle with them without a creak.

nice build thread! i do like how the WNO sliders are tucked closely to the body... but i have a couple young kids. do you think they kickouts in the rear provide enough room to actually utilize as a step? i only have a 2" lift, but i'd hate to have to help them in and out of the car everytime....

Question about body protection and sliders. So on the one hand its nice to have sliders tucked near the body but this wouldn't provide protection to the body (especially the back door/fender area) should the car slide into a tree. Does anyone know which sliders stick out enough to provide some side protection but aren't so far their intrusive? It seems like the white knuckle provide a good compromise.

Thoughts?

Yes, the WK Sliders do stick out some but not excessively: 3.75" from the rocker panel under the front doors and 6" with the kick out from the rocker under the rear doors. Really not much further than the OEM side steps. I think the Rocky Road sliders I had on my 80 Series stuck out a little less but not much.

Sliders provide excellent protection and think it's worth keeping trail obstacles and shopping carts from damaging the side of the vehicle. The only real down side for me is that you will get your pant leg dirty when getting out in dusty or winter conditions if you don't slide out just right. Easy to avoid though if you just put your foot on the slider and slide a bit on to the seat bolster, keeping your leg away from the slider, as you get out of the GX especially once lifted.

I had a Superformance Cobra with side pipes, that would burn ya bad, so I am use to getting out without rubbing my leg on exhaust and sliders.

Bumping an old thread. I have a 4th gen 4Runner and someone near me is selling gx470 sliders. Wonder if they will fit my 4Runner? Not sure if non-kdss.

If you don't have KDSS or XRES then the answer should be yes if from a truck with normal suspension.
