I am waiting for my FSM, but I want to set the timing. I have a chilton and it does not say if the two dots are top dead center or if they are 7 degrees. My truck is an 89 FJ62. That pings like a MO FO. I know a least one of you will know the answer.

On 2Fs the line is TDC and the hole (or BB) is 7 deg before TDC - not sure about 3Fs though.

Mine has two little holes stacked on top of each other and one big hole by itself. I am getting a lot of no load ping and shot the timing with the timing light and looks like it is really off.

Two small dots is TDC, single large dot is 7 degrees BTDC.

Here is a link to the scans of IG-10 and IG-11 of the FSM. Don't forget to short E1 & TE1 in the diagnosis box with a wire before you time it. Enjoy.
