Relax, there's no stupid questions here on mud.

Give Toyota Publications a call: 1-800-622-2033 or just look 'em up online. I think I got mine in 3 business days. The total cost for 6 manuals and supplements for the 60 was $140. I'm not sure what's available for the 62.

Another option is techinfo.toyota.com
For a few dollars, you can download manuals a section at a time.
However, only goes back to 1990 and I have heard that they limit the number of downloads in a 24 hour period (that was not my experience, though)

The publication numbers listed above are for the FJ60 w/ 2F engine, not the FJ62. The Chassis and Body manual is probalby OK (you can download a copy from Birfield.com to check). But the engine & emissions manuals are all wrong. Here's a website where you can search for the publication numbers. You can also check the SOR site to get an idea how the Fj62 manuals are packaged. Apparently, the engine and chassis are in a combined manual, but the auto transmission is in the earlier FJ60/62 Body and Chassis manual...Hopefully someone with FJ62 manuals will post up with the correct publication numbers. I've ordered from the number above, but I don't know how much information you need to give them. It's nice to have the publication number to ensure you get what you want.

You should be able to walk into your local dealer with the publication number and order from them, but the telephone number works good and you don't get pained looks or attitude...

Is the FSM worth it and does it tell you step by step how to replace every part?

Yes, it is worth is and no, there are not instructions for every part. However, in my opinion, it is the best printed resource available.

Check out the body and chassis manual that you can download from birfield.com. This manual has clear instructions on removal, disassembly and reassembly of the major drivetrain and body components. The 2F engine maunual has similar detail, with a focus on engine and carburetor rebuilding. The emissions manual is a must for anyone with a smog-legal vehicle becuase it explains how each of the emissions components works and provides test procedures on proper operation.

I recently downloaded the '90 manuals from techinfo.toyota. They are for the 3fe. Under many categories, there's a "wagon" manual, that's actually for the FJ80.
For $10, you get access for 1 day. If you don't mind sitting at your computer and downloading them one at a time (it's divided into many many sections), it's pretty good.
The downside: the pdf format is not the highest quality. For example: when replacing the fuel pressure regulator, there's a picture of a wrong way and a right way. The resolution is such that I can't tell the difference.
Overall, I thought it was worth the ten bucks.
Hope that helps.
