Planning on rebuilding the front end next weekend and my diff fluid has the mucky-yucky blues. Looking for suggestions on where to buy:

1. Wheel Bearings
2. Felts, seals, shims and wipers
3. Knuckle bearings
4. inner axle/diff seal
5. Differential inspection cover gasket - I want to clean out and inspect the diff before refilling.

Anyone take the list from:Birfield.com and just pick up the bearings from a local shop? I've got a great source for bearings working for a semiconductor company. Or do I contact C-dan or buy the kits from the likes of SOR?

Inner wheel bearing Bower JLM104948 Japan same
Inner wheel race Bower JLM104910 Japan same
Outer wheel bearing Koyo LM102949 Japan
Outer wheel race Koyo LM102910 Japan
Knuckle bearing Koyo 30303D Japan Koyo TR0305A
Knuckle race Koyo 30303D Japan Koyo TR0305A

I'd get everything except the wheel bearings from C-Dan. As far as the wheel bearings, I'd go to AutoZone and get Timkens (the other factory installed bearing) at 1/4 the price of Koyos. Bothe inner and outer bearings and races for about $25.00 per corner.

I actually bought everything from C-Dan, including Timkins. I didn't want to have to chase them down in my little town.

Ditto on my re-pack - Dan has a kit he puts together with everything you need (including inner axle seal) for a great price. I bought Timkens through a buddy of mine who is a bearing dealer - AutoZone has them for almost what I paid ;)

Good luck - Here's the write-up from when I did mine...

-go to c-dan for all seals and get an extra inner oil seal ($1.35) in case you muck one up. Make sure you order the clips for the birfs if you are going to disassemble or swap them side to side. Also get two studs for fitting the spindle and the bolt to thread into the axle end. This will make life slightly easier.

-You can save major $ on the wheel bearings by going elsewhere than Toyota, but harder to find the knuckle bearings and less savings over Toyota price if you can find them.

-look in the yellow pages under "bearings" or try an industrial supply place. A bearing shop can get them for you cheaper than autozone, and the Koyos s/b about the same as the timkens. The knuckle bearings are a special order for most bearing shops. Don't know if you have right part # or not, but do a search and you will find a thread where this is discussed and correct part # is given. Unless you have the full part code a bearing shop will supply a very similar common bearing that is short one roller and won't last.

Dan had the kit for $193. It included the clips. Probably should have had him send and extra inner seal but did not think of it when ordering. SOR had the knuckle kit for $159 but it did not look like the clips or inner seal were included and to be quite honest I'm sure the kit Dan supplies is more complete. Timkin wheel bearings were $100 and Koyo's were $142 from Dan. Kaman Bearing here in town has always come through for me with bearings of exactly the right type. Both for my Saab and this Toyota and I get the company discount. Yes, you must supply a complete part number, extended numbers included as those show whether they are shielded etc...

Thanks for all the responses. They are much appreciated.

marlin crawler has koyo bearings, and KOK seals...$209 for everything.

Bummer :'( It would appear Marlin may have dropped their price or maybe that's with shipping. I still have at least $50 to go on the bearings. Are the KOK seals the same as the OEM pieces?

from what they told me they are.

Look and feel is the same... been in my truck for ~50o miles so far and no issues.

Yes we dropped our price to $197! That includes the full knuckle rebuild kit and Koyo inner & outer wheelbearings.

We also have the Knuckle kit without the bearings for $119

Shipping to most most US states is $10

SOR may have the kit for $159 but not all the parts and shipping and handling is normally not included and is usually very high priced.
