Hello,
I just registered in the hopes someone here can lend me a hand.

I actually feel stupid asking this, as I grew up in a shop and rebuilt just about everything..........

Where is the fuel filter located?
I have traced the lines from the tank to the carb several times, back and forth on a few different occasions. Even to the point of physically touching the line all the way to make sure my eyes weren't tricking me.

Looking at the filter its obvious it sits in a bracket, has 2 lines - 1 in, 1 out, in a V configuration.

I called toyota and they said its right by the tank, trust me I have looked and looked. Can somone please tell me exactly where its located? Pic maybe?

I am starting to think either its on top of the tank or my truck for some reason doesn't have one.

Thank you,
-Jeremy

If it is like my 84, and according to the 85 FSM I have, it is, then the fuel filter is about halfway back along the outside of the fuel tank, tucked up in a crevace just in front of the fuel filler pipe.

dude, I have a fuel injected 85 22re and its on the passenger side, its under the intake and plenum attached to the block somewhere really close to the starter. You have to remove the starter to remove the filter and its a huge pain in the ass. I changed out mine while the engine was out of the truck. I didn't pull it for this reason, but I could tell it would be a bitch trying to get it out any other way. Not sure if this helps, I'll check pirate for you if your not a member.

The word "carb" in his message should tell you that it's not EFI.

If the fuel filter is there, it's on top of the tank, near the front, just forward of the filler connection. Look thru the wheel arch, lift up the rubber fender liner, you should be able to see it. If it's not there, then the PO removed it.

Sorry, must have overlooked "carb" in the message. I searched some more last night and found everything that KLF said. Good luck.

Mike

Thanks

I found it.
judging by the way the lines leave the front of the tank I thought it would have been up there.

It's covered with road grime but I got it, now I just hope the hoses aren't brittle . :)

Thanks again.

Where did you find it? If its 22re, it'll be where frty6&2 said. Although I didn't have to remove the starter to change out mine.
