Where is the blasted LSPV??!!

I'm troubleshooting my mushy brakes and just finished intalling my new master cylinder. Couldnt bleed the rear pasenger side because the idiot PO cross threaded a WRONG bleeder valve into the wheel cylinder...Anyway that thing is stripped and shot so I'll be buying a new wheel cylinder...:mad:

But I cannot for the life of me find the darn LSVPV bleeder, someone help me out here please, pretty please.

It's forward of the axle, about in the center of the vehicle, right next to the muffler.
 
what does lsvpv stand for?
 
load sensing proportioning valve
 
that was my guess but i was unsure

i dont have one of those to worry about.
 
If you have one, its a spindley arm that connects to the top of the rear axel housing and causes brake problems if not adjusted after lifting the rig!

Chicago, is the spindley arm supposed to be raised equal to the lift? That's my undertsanding and what I did but I'm not so sure mine's working as well as it should. Adjusted it up and down (down now) and it doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

Yes, How evermany inches of lift you gained the LSPV is supposed to raised equally!
Have you adjusted your rear breaks?
Before I elevated my LSPV, I had NO REAR brake engagement, but I also re adjusted the drums as well.
When I adjusted the drums, I tightened the "star" deal till the tires were draggin and required a bit of effort to turn...
I called it good, and my brakes work great now!
Try bracketing the LSPV arm up to the x member and see if that makes any difference for you!

Friends of mine 62 has a small shackle lift and we just kinda bent the rod a lil straighter to help with brakes. then adjusted the drums and works great now.
 
Does anyone have a picture of the LSPV? I have an 84 FJ60 that I am having trouble locating the LSPV on. Is it the "T" on the passenger side of the rear axle that the main brake line goes into and then disberses brake lines out to the rear wheels? If so, I am not seeing a bleeder nipple on this. How do I bleed it?

I don't think the 84 FJ60 has an LSPV. At least mine does not. It isn't that sophisticated. The proportioning is all in the MC and the disc/drum calculus. It's magic.
 
I'm pulling my hair out trying figure out why my brakes still suck. I bled the bejebus out of them and they're still mush. I bled the LSPV, then drivers rear, pass rear, pass front, then drivers front. New M/C and 4 Runner calipers.

I had no idea the LSPV had to be adjusted! Since I do not have the FSM, can someone post what needs to be done to adjust the LSPV?
 
My 60 brakes great. I wonder if you 62 guys could just replumb to the 60 configuration and save a lot of aggravation. At the very least you will have one less thing to bleed.
