No, we've seen the boat to IRNP in Houghton, but not enough time to do that. Would be nice, however, both of us have flaky backs, so the amount of hiking and packing we can do without the 80 is rather limited. In fact, I built a chuck box after that trip, nicely made but too :censor: heavy, so have been thinking about getting one of those little pickup bed cranes like HF sells to sling it in and out of the M101's bed.

Driven by the Porkies, no camp yet, looks interesting.

Drummond Island, too, but gotta save something. If you're down by the Soo, definitely do not miss the Bush Plane Museum on the Canadian side, well worth the visit.

Just some mild trails and dirt roads around the Kenai peninsula, Chugach mountains and turnagain arm.

Lots of camping planned this summer down towards Seward.

The plan is a winch, 33s , roof basket an a snorkel eventually and then more serious trails will happen. Over this next year or so though, it's the wife's DD in Los Anchorage.

May wnd up passing you on some of those trips. We're planning family trip down to Kasilof beach this summer for dip netting.

And finally, the initiator of this thread (Shawn and his wife). We met them along our trip...they are the nicest people you'll ever meet. Their entire family took us in for a week, and Shawn helped perform an engine swap on our 80 series. Great people. They even took us for a ride in their old Ford (1932, I think?)

You poor people. Not only did suffer from catastrophic engine failure a million miles from home, you subjected yourselves to our crazy family for a week! Glad you survived, and it was a pleasure for us to be an impromptu part of your vacation. You were wonderful guests. We just hope you haven't associated too much pain and suffering with these parts and find yourselves in UT again sometime soon!

Here are a couple, slightly less picturesque photos I snapped of your "vacation":

Spent some time in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Camped off the 50 Mile BenchTrail (37.326556, -111.131364) in the cliffs above Dance Hall Rock. Hiked some canyons...

We've made the trip to the Hole In the Rock from the east side several times. This was the first time we visited the actual hole from the west. The area has a fascinating history. Hard to believe Mormon pioneers stuffed wagons down this shoot...
