Where besides SOR can I get Key blanks for a 76 ignition

I tried the local hardware stores but all the carry is the more recent key blanks

I had a duplicate made by a local locksmith because the local ACE didn't have that right blank. It was really reasonable, less that $5.

Home Depot
They have a blank that will work. Most stores that have a key cutter do. The key will be for a later model Toyota and it will be longer. Take your key with you and search for the match. You then have to take the key home before cutting and grind/file about 3/8 inch off the length. Small amount of trouble I grant you,(1/2 :banana:job), but better than depending on mail order and paying 4-5 bucks plus shipping

$1.25 each

The key blanks that fit for me were 33 and 31, 31 fit a bit snugger, so we used that, but alot of folks use 33.

I think it's ilco numbers, i know that Il-33 is commonly used.

They are longer but worked great in my 76.
I got it done at the local big box hardware store.

look like this, with or without plastic:

Amazon.com: Kaba Ilco Corp. TR33-P Key Blank: Everything Else

I only found black plastic, when i searched online... some old threads said more colors were available.

I had an ignition key for a '75 cut at ACE last week.

Ilco No. TR-33 Cost a whopping $1.95.

Guys thanks for the help.

I did some research and determined that the proper Ilco part number is T61c. I searched and can get them pretty cheap online. less than a buck plus shipping.

Don't get me wrong I am thankful for SOR....as I have gotten many parts from them that many just don't offer. But they are charging near $10 for a blank plus handling charges. I know they need to make a little more margin than most business to stay afloat but this kind of mark up is wrong. In bulk they can get these blanks well under .50 cents a piece.

I got a new key cut for mine at a local lock shop. The original, that I got from the PO, was so worn that it wouldn't cut warm butter, I swear. I would have to get it "just right" in the ignition, to get it to turn. I thought the ignition cylinder was shot, but the new key proved me wrong. $16.50 for the first key, $6 for every one after that. Took about twenty minutes total, and glad I tried that before replacing the cylinder.

So would that also mean that the later 80 - 84 model key stil be available ?

Go to Ace in Canton, Fort. They did my 78 no problem. Gas door key too.
