Damn! Relax people.

I just simply wanted to ask if anyone had thought about somewhere further south. I happen to live in Dripping Springs and I am sure that there are other LC owners who live south of the river too. Yes, 38th is further south than 183 but it doesn't hurt to ask. And I meant Town Lake (now Lady Bird Lake) and not Lake Austin.

It is nice to have a place that welcomes us. Zingers is fine. I will show when I can.

Hey, your in my neck of the woods -I live on Hamilton Pool Rd!!!!

I drive in from Buda. But I live in northern Buda so it's not that far.

We also do not sanction any sanctioning.

...it's usually good to go to at least one event, before questioning where it's held, doncha think?

LOL.

Speaking of south Austin, Alamo City Cruisers has their own version of Cruiser's 'N Coffee. Yeah, they ripped off our idea, the one we ripped off from some other group.

Actually Shanko has been to our events and is a very long time member of the club, but it's always hard for him to attend due to his schedule. He was around before I joined and I believe that was 7+ years ago.... :D

You asked a question, you got answers. Besides, it's usually good to go to at least one event, before questioning where it's held, doncha think?

With 13 posts in "7+ years", I commend him for his restraint! ;)

Hey guys,

Wasn't meaning to get testy, just every few years events seem to go through a "we should have it here" debate. I was just meaning this one isn't up for debate :) I like South Austin, Hamilton Pool, and even Buda (wiener dog Mecca) ...

Sean,
Come up with some ideas (location/times). It's been 15 or so years since I lived in south Austin, so I don't know what's available down there anymore. I'm sure we can setup something else in addition to the C&C meetup. Zilker Park/Barton Spring Pool parking lot? Maybe we can meet up and grill some food?

Mark: thanks for watching my back.

JM: Yep, I've been a member of LSLC, TLCA, and MUD for some time now because I enjoy the company of other Land Cruiser enthusiasts. And yes I am guilty of not winning the "most posts" award, but I also didn't realize that I would ever have to defend my online activity. Although I have been on MUD for many years, I only recently became aware of the local forum stuff. In addition, I have refrained from posting to MUD because I did not think that I had much technical stuff to add (leave it to the real experts out there - there are a ton of way-smarter-than-me gearheads on MUD). I tend to sit back and listen until I have something something good to say -- just my style I suppose. Being the quick learner that I am, I do see now from your example that if I really wanted to impress some people with my high post numbers I could just comment on everything that went by.

All: I understand: Rudy's on 183 for the monthly club meetings, Zingers on Lamar for the Coffee deal. I'll be there when I can and I won't ask again. Hope to see ya'll again soon.

David,

Before moving out towards Dripping Springs last year, I lived in and around South Austin (Zilker, Travis Heights, etc) for many years. As such, I've spent a lot of time in the South Congress area (Home Slice, Jo's, Guerro's, Doc's, etc.). There are a lot of great places to hang out down around there. Really though, I was picturing in my head how DAMN COOL it would be to see a dozen or so bad-ass Land Cruisers parked along the road on South Congress. Quite often you see nice bikes (motorcycles), rat rides, and even sweet custom cars crusin' around down there. I've even been down there with a bunch of other dual-sport motorcycles before. None of that would compare to a caravan of nice Cruisers taking over for a few hours. Hell, I'd be willing to bet someone $100 that after one or two outtings down on South Congress we'd probably pick up a new member or two. Just a little different exposure.
Maybe First Thursday once in a while? [For those that don't know, First Thursday is an extremely busy time down on S. Congress. Tons of people. Tons of cool cars. Etc. Etc. Held on the evening of the first Thursday of every month. Much better turn out when the weather is nice then when it looks like it does today.]

Please, I don't mean to start a flame war, just replying to David's post. Just posting some thoughts.

-Sean

No flame war here, either. I'd be up for SoCo as well, as long as I wouldn't be expected to have an Obama sticker on the 40! Look forward to meeting you, Sean.

I'm sure we can find you a Pelosi sticker instead. :)

Too late David, looks like he already has one! :p

SoCo is cool, it's damn hard to find one parking spot though :frown: I think cruising through and parking somewhere would be fun though. I know the owner of Jo's has a lime green 80, maybe we can talk her into letting us use the lot sometime?

You're right, she does own an 80. Great idea too!
I think I know someone that knows her and I can check into using her lot if you'd like.
