I have some stock LX450/ 80 series wheels that are corroded considerably in the painted recessed areas. Has anyone had any luck having these refinished? Any referrals in SoCal? On a related note, I have cash if anyone has a clean set of 16x8 LC or LX 80 series wheels.......anyone?

Just had 5 LX450 wheels blasted and powdercoated Satin Black Texture... Took them to Extreme Coating / Santa Fe Springs, came out good i'd use them again in the future...

I had a nasty set bead-blasted and then I rattle-canned them with Duplicolor silver wheel paint. That color is almost a perfect match for what the caps are painted with.

And there are many companies out there like "OEMWheels4Less" who will sell you a set of refurbished recoated guaranteed true 16 LC wheels for around $150 a wheel, so if you have any wheels that are beyond bead blasting salvage, you can replace one or all. I did that and then sold my old wheels for $50 each to a friend who was happy to get them as a second set for his snow tires.

I had mine refinshed (incl colured matched paint) locally for $150 ea. I tried for some time to get a used set and the cost here was anywhere from $600 - $800 for a set of 4, so I had them refurbished. Funny thing is I haven't even used them since I later purchased two sets of OEM steelies...:frown:

I just went through mine, gave them some love with a combination of scotchbrite pads, "poly" wheels, wire wheels and elbow grease, finished with some flat black and "sand"...

Thats an interesting look. I like it.

Had mine redone with the inserts painted 40th anniversary style, cost me just under $600.
I got the center caps off ebay and paint-penned the logos black.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I just purchased a set of refurbished LX450 wheels online for $500 shipped. I will let everyone how they look. Also, I will be listing my current set for sale here as soon as I get the new ones mounted. If anyone is interested, I was thinking $150 for the set, local pick up in Socal.

You can probably get around $250 for all 4. Fair market value. I wouldn't take too much less unless they are royally thrashed and bent.

First in line while waiting for the ad and pics. Thanks.

They are not royally thrashed or bent, just some corrosion on the painted inserts. They would be a good candidate for a bead blast and powder coat. I will stand by $150 for the set. I don't mind passing along a good deal to a fellow mudder.
