Who's in?

Leaving sometime after the event Sat. Driving about 30 min to Monkey Mountain. Go in and set up camp and then play around that evening, build a fire and camp that night. Those that want to hang out Sunday can stay and help scout the area.

There will be overgrowth, some mud, possible damage. A lift is prefered.

Those I know are coming

Rick Carswell
Myself
John Lee
Steve Springs

Who else is planning on driving / riding?

This is not a UC event but more of a meeting of friends.

I'm hoping to but haven't got the kitchen pass yet. Bonnie's gotten more weekends than Jeri lately, jealousy is beginning to rear its ugly green head.

All packed up and ready to ride. Just got the 62 back from the shop; transmission serviced, new oil in the diffs, and another front end aligment. This day needs to hurry up and end.

We were on the way out Sunday  not on the way in when it happened, but that story comes later. More happened on Saturday too.

Here we are going in Friday night. Doesn't look like much, but pucker factor was high from inside the cabin.

Campfire, long exposure, me moving around with a headlamp...

Now I'm sitting still.

Troll made it with no worries going in.

Rolling into camp...keep an eye on Trollhole.

John's 62...

The beginning of Trollhole's trials at Monkey Mtn. He eventually found his line, but as they say, it all went south from there.

Setting up camp on Saturday...

Heading out for some exploring before dinner.

This was the shortest LURP I've ever been on. We got about 25 feet down the trail AND THEN...

Extract the foreign object from the passage way...

Assess the extent of the wound and treat accordingly...luckily no bodily fluids were lost.:D

No pictures of the surgery, but it involved a couple of BFH's, a steel bumper shackle point and a large hollow shaft (cheater bar)...oh and lot's of grunting

Shortly thereafter, dinner consisted of spicy chicken sausage, grilled sirloin filets, fire roasted veggies and a few frosty beverages. Y'all missed a great night of camping weather. Clear skies, slight breeze and temps in the high 60's - perfect for campfires.

OH, but the fun didn't stop there for our intrepid Trollhole!

On the way out, we set up the exiting caravan with my FJC first in line, in case Big Gay had any steering issues. That way I could strap him out if necessary. Everybody made it up the first hill with little cause for excitement. Then I made it through the Monkey Pit and got out to spot Trollhole back across. His line was a we bit off and being shy of overworking the steering at this point, Big Gay just flopped over ever so gently.

Let the recovery begin...

We quickly discovered it was going to take more than a game of tug of war to right 'ole Big Gay.

Then John Lee's FJ62 needed some coaxing to get through the Monkey Pit.

Everyone got out of Monkey Mountain alive and hit the road back home. It was a great addition to the Annual Event and I'm glad a few of us were able to enjoy it. We did plot a couple more trails, but alas, all we did was connect some well known dots.

Nice.... looks like everyone had fun, and then some :)

John, did you buy your spotters a beer? You should!

Nice video!

great pics and videos. I wish I could have made it. Looking forward to the october trip.

Good stuff, looks like fun. It is getting to be that time of year!!

Called 4x4 Labs today and ordered all new steering links. Should go well with the 4x4 Labs Hy-steer arms I bought over a year ago and never installed. Nor the Newfields. Nor the ARB locker.

Guess I have an axle rebuild to do. Probably go ahead and buy the 27 spline axles while I have it all apart.

Are these trails generally on the west side of the lake?
