Kevin,

this is Michael; I've gotten to the point that I see a rear locker almost as safety equipment. Needless to say I wouldn't know how it would jive with a Lexus suspension.

By the way, good riding with you guys. Next time we'll have to do this during daylight so I can actually see how y'alls truck work :D

Had a great time Michael, would wheel with you guys anytime, besides I owe you dinner! The truck works pretty well, it's my driving that's best viewed at night!:D

Cody, From what I saw, I thought you did very well for your first trip!

I have to second that  You did well indeed! Kept the throttle controlled.

the "gonna die" feeling is par for the course; in my book, if you are not apprehensive some times (even if it is to keep the sheetmetal intact), maybe you are getting too cocky, and the next thing to happen is......................

better ask for a spotter, ask for a strap or whatever it is to get you out or stay safe..........

PS: my first trip was alone, in an all-wheel-drive Eagle Summit (Mitsubishi Expo clone, wife-wagon that my then has-been husband had wanted, haha), just north of Scottsdale, got stuck due to being timid; I was ready for a long trek on foot (I did have water to carry) until 10 minutes into walking, I found some guys in pickups one of whom drove the SUV for me out of the rut I got it stuck in (today, I would drive that stuff in a rental car LOL). And here came the turning point: somehow that did not deter me from going on FR24 all the way through Bloody Basin Road (Agua Fria crossing included) right afterwards. Call it adrenaline or naive, but the feeling after completing the trip by myself was great! Not to speak of the great scenery back there. Certainly that was what got me hooked onto desert tours, although it took quite some years until I got my cruiser.

Hi everyone my name is Terence and I know a member here called Spike. I was the guy that called and spoke with Kevin and also Cody in the morning to say I was comming. I came south on the 17 and took the Table Mesa exit and went right. I could hear everyone on the cb, but couldn't get anyone to help me find the group. Also my damn phone didn't work so I kept getting cut off while starting to ask Kevin where to go. Man I was bummed, I ended up running some dumb dirt road twice that ended in Cave Creek by the camp ground, I guess it was fr41. How the heck did I go wrong? The only other place to go was a different street called Frontage, that I never checked out. Sorry I missed the run, but hope to hook up someday. I live in Prescott, but not in town, in a place called Long Meadow Ranch, I would love to show you guys my back yard if you ever wanna come up here and wheel.

:frown:

'Frontage' sounds like the frontage road that heads initially north from the west end of the Table Mesa Road bridge over I-17. That would be where we were. Damn I hate to hear about bad experiences of people just trying to have a good time. Hope to see you again soon!

one more technical note to Cody:

the one modification that rarely gets talked about because it doesn't involve big $$$ but is simple and real effective: axle breather hoses. Of course, I would have no idea as to details for your truck.

Thats an easy fix on Cody's rig, $10 worth of parts and about 20 minutes.

The 80 axle breathers are already hosed up to the frame, so extending them is easy, just replace the hoses with longer 1/4" hose and cap with small fuel filters. I do it when installing the lift.

I ran both breather hoses up to the master cylinder.
