OK...so it looks like tip top is winning. I am inviting a friend and want to confirm plans. How about if we meet at the Chevron E of I17 on Carefree at 9AM. Will that give us enough time to run the trail and get back before dark?
Please advise,
Brittan

YEARS ago for me (last time we ran FR41) is in the order of 6 years, and at that time, it was NOT graded. It had some interesting spots coming down from the entry, got kind of flat by where the corrals and the cabin are, had two interesting creek crossings (dry and rocky, around X-mas time), one little steep rutted out ascent (like in the Crown King picture posted earlier in this thread) and about one or two places with a bit of lean/off-camber, but nothing too bad. Around New Year's Eve, there were plenty of hunters out there, I could've sworn there wasn't a single deer left; I don't know how the recent fires might have affected that. It wouldn't surprise me though if the rains in the spring caused quite some washouts. I would think the potential for play areas is really limited given the restrictions in place. Side-trip to Sheep bridge strikes me as a VERY LONG day, but the water crossing is not without pucker there and at the end of the trail if you were to return on the east side of the Verde River (might be closed due to bald eagle habitat protection). Have fun out there if you go, and let us know how you liked it, we might do it ourselves a few days later.

As far as Tip Top Mine Trail goes, I got word that Garie Chavez might join us for the run in honor of his friend who died in Iraq (see post in Chat). No final word yet.

RHINO, for more rockcrawling action, the Chevy K5 Sheetmetal Gang (they like their metal) is planning on a run on lower Terminator on 12/26. PM me if you want meeting info.

I vote for whatever trail I can run my stocker through.

I've run FR41 a few times in the last year, it's pretty much a dirt road. Scenic though. I voted for TTM simply because I haven't done it- the 2.5 rating sounds about the same as 41.

Gillette/Tip Top it is, the main trail is rated 2.5 should be stocker friendly, but has not been prerun so we will find out. There looks to be a ton of optional trails in the area that may be more challenging, I am up for beyond Tip Top and Indian Mesa. There looks to be lots of cool mines and equipment to explore and the weather forecast is calling for a high of 76F should be a beautiful day!

When; 12-26-2005

Meeting at; The Chevron gas station east of I-17 on Carefree highway at 9AM, pull out at 9:15AM. There is a grocery store, fast food restaurant, etc., in the strip mall. An optional meeting place for those coming from the North would be take the Table Mesa Road exit west, wait along the road for a caravan of Toyotas about 9:30AM.

CB channel; 4

Pink arrow marks the meeting place;

I'm in, and up for extracurricular activity if there's some to be had.

extracurricular?

Last time I heard that phrase on a group trip, someone wanted me to help them bury some dismembered bodies...

Oh well. I'm in!

I guess we'll find out final count on Monday?

If anyone needs info beyond what has been posted here, call me.

Anyone planning on bringing a good camera? I was thinking we could submit something to Toyota Trails (if weather and trail permits fine pictures; I am willing to write something).

BTW, got my behind in a magazine, I'll bring it Monday.

Is this run different than the one posted for the same date, time, meeting place as the new one I see on the other AZ Land Cruiser forum?

I will have a couple of cameras, if you want to use one for the day?

Yes, that is the AZLCA run going to TR41.

I am bringing my own camera, but it's always nice to have a second, so we can make sure we get everyone.

I will be there in my Taco and I am bringing a SAS'd 90 4Runner with me. His name is Brian.
Look forward to seeing you all there...

Fifteen trucks for the Southeast Bradshaw tour today! For me the highlight was the cruise down Bolder Creek, very scenic. At Indian Mesa Claudia's husband Michael met up with Ben, Rob and I, we completed the tour by going west and coming out at Lake Pleasant. Then topped the day off with dinner at the AZ Grill where we met this morning.
