I've scoured all the wheel spacer threads that I could find and did not come up with a definitive answer for this. I've got some 16" Tundra rims that I'll be putting on my FJ60 soon. I need to run 1" spacers in the front to avoid hitting the TRE's, but they clear fine in the rear. Do I actually need to run spacers front and rear, or can I get away with just putting them on the front? This is probably a foolish question, as my gut feeling is that I should have them all the way around to keep the spacing equal, but I figured I'd find out for sure.

Of course, I'm aware of the ongoing debate about the safety and benefit of using spacers in general. I realize they're not ideal, but it seems that plenty of folks have used them without any major issues. Thanks for the help.

no reason I know of why you can't have spacers on just one axle, but I think most folks run them on all four wheels if they are 1inch or more.

I run spacers at all four wheels, but technically only the front two need them to clear the brake caliper. I'm running the type with the built in studs on the spacer.

Installed properly there is not a safety issue. Run thread locker from factory studs to spacer don't over torque. Check them after a 100 or so miles and you will be good.

You can run just on front axle.

you will found that using just in the front would make your Cruiser look weird .. but as others said no reason you could't

I run 1.25" at all corners. My 17" rims and 35" tires rubbed the inside of the rear wheel wheels with out rear spacers, actually, so did my 33x9.5 r15's on stock rims and 33x12.5r15's on 15x10's and 35x12.5r15's on 15x10's, etc. So yeah if you don't rub do as you wish. I would space out all four.

are 3 inch spacers just too much??

not very offset. came off of a tacoma and I'm trying to compensate for that

well, 1.5" should be enough. I think Taco rims are 4.5" BS, so 3" would net you 1.5" BS which would be pretty exteme. I wouldn't do it. Regardless, make sure to use locktite and torque to spec (usually about 100 ftlbs), use a torque wrench as airtools may over torque and weaken the spacer.
