The down side of the newer ARB front bumper is that if you need towed out on a trail, the bumper has a tendency to fold into your grill unless you put some auxiliary recovery points to the frame. The recovery points on the bumper will probably hold well enough for a tug out of the sand but not in a situation where the front end is lifted off of the ground.

Forgot to add a picture to the Dissent suggestion. High clearance but ARB style, built in tow points

ARB does do verification and validation on newer vehicles so there bumpers work with modern SRS technologies. For the 60 series, this point is almost moot as the safety technology incorporated into these trucks back then was not as sophisticated as we have today. Bumpers are capable of providing the first level of energy dissipation in the event of a crash but for many these days the use case of off-road performance ranks higher than say a 60mph head on collision. Frankly I’d be more concerned with seatbelts that are more than 35 years old, along with their associated mechanical connections.

that is all great with newer rigs but the OP is asking about a rig built 34-36 years ago, original bumper is frame mounted
a 60mph crash with either the stock or aftermarket bumper is going to have similar results
X2 about old seatbelts

yes exactly, you said it, we are on the same page.

Customer sent me this pic. Head-on/side swipe 35-40mph. Bumper shifted with the slotted frame adjustment holes I use.

Insurance did not total and frame was perfect after hit. Bumper took a hit but other than coating/powder damage, customer is reinstalling after paint and body repair.
