Wheel spacer, SCRUB RADIUS?

Upon research, I just found out about SCRUB RADIUS in relation to wheel offset, which I don't quite understand.
Will adding wheel spacer affect this? and will it be noticeable on the road?

My current wheel set up is 22x10 +25 OFFSET
Tires are 285/45r22
the stance is flush on the fenders

I would want to have wider stance for better look.

Plan:
1. Change to bigger Ridge Grapplers 305/45r22 (which is almost a 32.8'' tire) or another option is 33x12.5r22
2. Would also plan to add 30 or 40mm Wheel Spacer to push the wheels outward and have wider stance
3. Cut/adjusting the inner wheel fender liner so that there will be no rubbing

Thanks

You're planning to add 30 or 40mm spacers on top of your already lowered +25 offset? If so, this will put you way out of spec and your wheels and tire will stick out of the fenders. For your 32.8" tires the offset should be 50mm to keep scrub radius in spec.

I wanted to have wide stance similar to the photo below,
with the wheels a little outside the fenders

How to achieve this look without affecting the spec too much?

You might be closer to that look with just 305s and a +25 offset wheel. I'd hold off on spacers until you see what the look is w/o them. It's a cool look, I guess, but it comes with a set of issues - scrub radius as you have identified, inability to fully articulate (but if you want that look you are probably not looking for ultimate off road performance), and spray all over the side of your vehicle. Vehicle look is a personal preference thing so go for the look you want. Scrub radius means that instead of the tire rotating on a single pivot point when turning the wheel (affording the least resistance), the tire is forced to travel in an arc because it is further out from the fulcrum. This is most noticeable when tuning the wheel when stationary. It does have an effect driving down the road as more steering input is required to point the tires in the desired direction, but you wont feel it as much just as it's always the case it is much easier to turn the tires when moving than stationary.

I really like the look of my 25mm methods with Lt275/70r18. Just the slightest poke outside the fenders. Going from 45mm offset to 25mm I didnt notice any handling differences from the scub radius change. This change did result in rubbing on the mud flaps when the front wheels are turned Id imagine anything lower then 20-25mm would be noticeable in regards to scrub radius and would result in even more rubbing when turning.
I agree with the above from @WCDAVE to consider a 305 tire. Something like Lt305/65r18.

Great explanation.

Thanks Understood, ill try 305's first

besides harder steering feel
what other possible negative effects will a positive scrub radius have?
more importantly, is it dangerous to drive on? cause I mostly drive on the highways and its a family car.

I am also interested to hear more about experience of others driving on 305/65R18 tires…

Ive been meaning to do a stance thread actually.
I'll post pics of my +25 wheels with 285s on soon. It JUST clears the mud flap by a millimeter and sits almost perfectly within the fender lines.
I personally wouldn't go any wider than that for a multitude of reasons.

Do eet.

As a proponent of big fat tires, the wide variety, this size works incredibly well. Pair that with +35 offset for a great balance of proper suspension geometry, stance, and clearance, and it can be magic.

I have to second that +30-35 is the probably the best offset to have. If i could do it all over again now I would go 18" wheels at +35.
My paint will have to suffer a bit until then.
