Just curious to get an idea of what people are paying to insure their LCs and LXs.

Post or screencap your coverage.

Looks about right I'm at $446 with another vehicle and a few discounts.

Just upped the Property Damage Liability coverage from $50,000 to $250,000. Only increased 6 month premium by a few dollars to 509.95/6 months. It was a little low before. The funny thing is it was exactly the same for $100,000 coverage as $250,000 coverage.

No reason to leave out Underinsured, pennies on the dollar, 100/300.

You should increase Property Damage to at least $100,000.

I own an Independent Insurance Agency.

Good suggestion. Even though the vehicle is worth less than 50,000 dollars, it would come into play if you were towing something. Who do you find has the lowest rates, generally? I called several of the majors. The lowest rate I was able to get was using Geico's online configurator.

I pay 600 every 6 for a 2015 Land Cruiser, 95 Viper, and 2016 Kia Optima. Clean record, married, house, etc.

Remember - property damage protects other people’s stuff - 250k is a lot.

In a perfect world you want enough BI to allow you to carry an umbrella (250k usually) and the ONLY coverage you should be truly worried about is your own UM. That’s what protects you and yours from injuries.

Back to your original question - I pay $600 every 6m for 250/100/250 excluding umbrella

$397/6 mo. StateFarm. 250/500 100 Prop. UM 250/500. All limits up to deductible on Umbrella policy. Usual discounts for multi line, etc.

Here are 15 rate variables I came up with in just a minute or of of thinking about it. Might be tough to do any comparisons unless these are considered.

Insurance

Coverage types
Coverage amounts
Insurance company
Discounts

Driver

Age(s)
Primary driver credit score
Driving record
Zip code
Claim record (all insurances)

Vehicle

Use type
Miles per year

This question has no meaningful answer. Each person's costs will differ greatly from the next. I moved 20 miles from MD to VA and my premiums for two cars dropped by $200 every 6 months. I went from a suburban single family house to a suburban single family house, no change in anything including coverages.

My neighbor, who has a similar car pays $300 more.

There are hundreds of calculations that go into every insurance quote and it ain't as simple as saying "what are you paying?"

@ceb is correct. Rates vary from one zip code to another and based on your own driving record, credit history, etc. Then throw in discounts like Multi-car, Multi-Policy.

I’m the state of Kentucky the minimum liability limits are 25/50, but I’d never recommend that. I’d go with 100/300 and 100 Property Damage.

If you own a business, farm or property that exposes you to liability then you might want to carry an Umbrella policy. Most carriers will require you to increase your vehicle and home’s liability limits to highest available in order to purchase an Umbrella policy.

As for Insurance Carriers you do often get what you pay for. The cheapest is not always the best.

I had a GEICO during a hail storm in ‘98. They decided to “fix” my vehicle while my co-worker with State Farm got a big fat check who totaled his vehicle.

Lastly, that online tool your using isn’t fool proof. Once you hit “issue” the rate could change based on everything mentioned above.

Use an Independent Agent to shop for you!

This is a quote from USAA to add a 2010 with full coverage in place of an 80. Currently have two 80's on liability only and pay $500 every 6mo.
Seems high compared to the rest of you

my 94 80 is on an Antique Vehicle policy Full Coverage with State Farm with agreed value of $20K = $277.98
my 08 200 with Full Coverage and $15k of Custom Equipment ($220 for 6 months) and medpay with AllState= $619.39

$262.58 / 6 months 2008 Landcruiser with 62YO primary driver. I have 10 vehicles and 2 houses insured with the same carrier:

This.

Man I need to research new insurance, Geico here 3 cars on plan w full coverage, 2012 f150, 2016 LC, 2014 ls460, pay around 1800 every 6 months, zip 78504. When I looked around Geico was always the cheapest so I've just stayed.

Sadly comparisons of all of these numbers are meaningless for most people because it's highly dependent on your zip code, age, history, credit, deductibles, coverages, multi-policy discounts, etc. @tominboise might pay $262/month for full coverage but even with a clean driving record the liability cost alone is over $400 in my area.

We pay $816 every 6 months for the LC but $1600 for the Mini Cooper. Allstate purportedly gives me over $1100 in discounts for the LC during the same 6 months. Why so much for the Mini? Because my 16 year old daughter just got her license and so she's the primary driver on my wife's car, though even before that the Mini was a couple bucks more than the LC.
