I was doing an oil/filter change last night and noticed That the "thing" beneath my alternator is covered in a layer of dirty oil. The oil seems to be coming from the object in question as there is no evidence of oil anywhere else. I've been through the FSM and can't find a picture reference as to what it is. I left my digital camera at the office so I couldn't take a pic. Anyone know what I'm referring to?

I assume you're talking about the power steering pump, unless you mean the pulley.

Cruiserman, you know what happens when you ass-ume! A pic sure would help a ton.

I'll take a pic at lunch but you may be right as there are a bunch of lines in that area running to the steering resevoir

Her's a pic:
double checking the FSM it may be the PS pump

OK let's try that again

Thanks Rick, will do.
This is getting to be like whack-a-mole. Pretty soon I'll have rebuilt this truck.

There ain't much below the alternator on a 1fzfe besides an idler pulley and a power steering pump.

Any dripping on the ground? My front crank seal leak is flinging oil onto the PS pump, but it's putting out enough to make puddles now.

I has oil leaking out the rear of the pump. I checked the resivore and it was a little over full. I added to much some time ago. The seal must be getting weak. I removed a little and it hasen't leaked, yet.
I have a rebuild kit standing by in my parts bin.
