That's a 5.5-6.5k rig here in nc for semi informed buyer. Your local market may differ and it depends on how much confidence in the work you can convey. Search Craig's and autotrader and find the middle ground for similar rigs in your area. I know tough to find another with rebuilt engine maybe but trade that against one with light mods or perfect shape. You get the idea.

And maybe find those missing driver seats that are in such good shape :D

Yes true. I did a 350 mile search and there is 2 for sale all stock with 250 miles one is nasty nasty inside and they want 6800 the other is decent but needs work it says and it's 7500

I would estimate 5 or 6

A lower mileage, western vehicle, good interior/exterior and good LC's are hard to come by these days--lot's of great things ahead of it. The rebuilt motor is a plus, not a minus. I'm going to say closer to $7k. Additionally, these LC's are no longer looked at as beaters--those owners are starting to fade out.

There is always ~10 on Craigslist around here. Not hard to find. Never quite understand why people say they are.

Value is so hard to determine unless you're looking at the truck checking it out in person IMHO. Personally I use Edmunds dot com which bases the value on actual sale prices.

The market for the 80 series is changing quickly. The amount of nice clean trucks is declining and the interest in this series is on the rise. As stated above, that is a $5.5 to $7K truck around here easy. If you are confident in the motor, should be a selling point. GLWTS

It is worth what someone will pay for it. The market will tell you.

A rebuilt motor with a 1 year warranty in Las Vegas is worth zero $ to me in Iowa (or anywhere other than Vegas).

Put it on eBay and you will find out what it is worth. There is no accurate "blue book" for 80s (or Land Cruisers). I've seen people pay $5k for rusted out 80s. I've seen people (and done so personally) purchase clean, rust free 80s for $1000. Depends on how informed the buyer and seller both are.

Good luck.

The truck alone has 132k miles on it.

The adage ..."what someone is willing to pay for it..." only tells half the story, it's a negotiating phrase used by savvy buyers. This statement puts all control in the buyers hands and certainly you, the seller have a say in the negotiations. The prejudice lies in your ability to defend value, you're not in an auction so take your time to find the right buyer and walk away from bottom fishers.

Correct. But if the seller is demanding $10k (or any number) and nobody is willing to pay it then the vehicle is not worth $10k. It is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

A seller can ask for whatever they want. Doesn't mean it is worth that.

Patience is the key on either end.

The mileage Is a great value, western history with no rust Is a great value, a rebuilt engine by a highly rated shop with reviews who builds bulletproof engines ( If that can be documented ) Is a great value .This Is what I would be looking for If I was to start a build. Low miles, no rust, solid truck with a good engine. If this Is the case there Is more value here than Is being discused. I have some concerns about this rig but I'm not going to go there. If you can present this truck as I have discribed here and have reciepts for toyota parts and a solid work history from your mechanic, I think you can do better.
I live 80 miles west of Chicago and the rigs around here are rust buckets and they are asking 5K for a rig with 230K and there's no change In value because of It. Good Luck..! :)

I would start at $10k. But get it waxed and shampooed up, and make sure everything works.

Low mileage, all the right things done, fairly stock, no rust....This is worth a decent amount, Have too figure about $7000+ of there is quality in the motor rebuild. Figure the obligatory armor ($4000 for bumpers and sliders) and lift $1500 for springs, shocks, and castor) will get you a solid all in for about $12,500 sounds right with the miles and overall cleanliness. Again the quality of the motor rebuild is a factor

1. Where is the fan shroud, hood, bottom plate under the rad, etc.? Put that stuff back.

2. An 80 is not a rare sports car that demands a lot of money. A 40, maybe to a point, but not an 80.

3. Everyone on mud thinks their Land Cruiser is worth a fortune, despite the fact that no one will actually pay it. Example; that 3-linked thing that's been for sale in the classifieds section for several months.

4. Everyone on mud doesn't seem to realize that when the ad has a list price of some astronomical figure, that doesn't mean it sold for that much.

5. Everyone in the car world doesn't understand that when you put money into modifying it or fixing it up, it doesn't make it worth a ton more.

6. No one on mud can tell you what your rig is worth without seeing it in person, looking at the local market, doing analysis of current trends, etc.--there are WAY too many variables to take into account that someone sitting at their computer desk can see and accurately comment on. Even then, the world of appraising is more of a guess than anything else and you're setting yourself up for disappointment when the rig isn't worth fifty gold rupees like everyone here told you it was.

7. I would be willing to bet that if you're asking here and stalling yourself from just listing the rig, you probably don't want to sell it, so I would look for another way to come up with the cash you're looking for.

Food for thought.

For the OP: to sell a vehicle immediately after putting so much money into it is not a good situation to be in IMHO, you must have at least $6-7K into it after all that work?? Best bet might be to try fleabay and start high, you could get lucky, but then there have been a few 80's on fleabay for many months that haven't sold. What someone will pay depends on the condition, location, and the knowledge and needs of both the seller and buyer. A buyer without much knowledge about 80's thinking Landcruisers never need service other than oil changes up to 500,000 miles, and with too much money in his pocket, will pay more than a Mud member who knows what to look for.

Take as you like, I'd maybe start by rewording your sig. $750 purchase just doesn't bode well for a 80 you want to sell, regardless its' present state & money invested.

Say what you want, I see that & think your 80 had a story (title wash, whatever), and car stories that don't involve Carroll Shelby are rarely good.
