just placed an order for the 10000lb w/synthetic ENGO winch on the metaltech group buy. couldnt pass up an offer this good. if anyone has doubts about these winches, check out this winch shootout. looks like it tested better than Warn in a few tests.

Massive Multi-Winch Shootout - Four Wheeler Magazine

I think I am going to pull the trigger on the 9000s next month since the GB is open until 4/15. I am trying to button up all of my armor first. I am going to have to start budgeting for tires soon too. It's always something. Anybody got a hook up on Nitto tires? I need 4 285/75r17 Trail Grapplers in the near future. I guess that means I will have some well used 295/70r17 Trail Grapplers for sale soon.:D

Why the 9000?? The 10k lb one is only like $25 dollars more!

Got my in-cab winch controls done today!

No real reason other than I thought the 9000lb would be adequate and I could use the extra money to get a black anodized aluminum fairlead instead of the standard aluminum finish.

Now that's a thinking man right there.

yeah i ordered the black hawse fairlead from warn. it's already on my bumper :p

I am picking one up from the metal tech group buy... But have you guys seen Layton's slee off road fair head? I am thinking about getting one of those, that thing is sweet.

FJoel is making some custom ones, and some with teflon. I'd pick up one of these if i was you :)
And instead of slee offroad you can get Toyota, or any custom message you want!

And yes the 10K engo is slightly slower than the 9K because it uses the same motor just a higher gear ratio to achieve the higher pull rating. I am rarely in a rush when winching so i'd take the higher pulling power.

Yep....I was told that the 896 is going to be too much spring for my shocks and will kill my ride quality with the amount of weight I'm hauling and that the ICONS will end being to soft and I will end up with some sag in the rear end. Too hot, too cold, just right :)

895s are good for 2.5-3" lift with little to no extra weight in the back, will still work fine for most rear bumpers tooo
896s are better for those running a rear bumper with swingouts, and usually carrying some heavy cargo.

If you are rarely carrying heavy cargo and dont plan on a rear bumper, the 895s are the way to go. I had them. I liked them.

I couldn't convince her to go topless but I did get her to slip into something a little more comfortable.
