Looking to get a traditionally called Yota (4runner or pickup) to supplement my 80 series due to gas prices and me going to have the truck in the shop in and out for the next month. I was wondering what years and models had solid front axles, 6 cylinders (4-banger, only if they are just as well powered as the 80 is, 3FE, not 1FZ), and get good gas mileage.

Last year for the SFA was 1985. To my knowledge, I don't believe Toyota put a V6 in the trucks until 1990ish, so you won't find a SFA with a stock V6. My 1985 Toy mini has a 22R in it and does pretty well on fuel. My :princess: 's 2000 4Runner has a much better version of the 4 cyl. motor. My advice...........go for a 1985 with a 22RE fuel injected 4 cyl. Just my .02.

Yep... what they said. Good luck finding one though...

I just found out that my buddy's little brother is selling his '85 for $1000. It's white, Xcab, mechanically sound (they just spent $1000 on the 5 sp trans), and has rust in all the usual places (along the box seam and behind the wheel wells). Anyway, it'll be perfect for my cousin's teen, so they're gonna go look at it this weekend. I'll have them get pics.
