I had my stock 67 40 motor yanked today to do some ahem... work on the bottom end (dont even ask
) and I about coughed up a hairball when I saw the mechanic just yank off the pulley and dampner assembly. There was no customary (to me anyway) bolt and washer like every other internal combustion engine I have ever seen in my not so short life. Um...

Anyone have ANY idea what gives on this? Is this normal? I was watching and he just said... oh it´s loose and pulled it off. On the front of the pulley it has a very funky looking spirally cut into the front end of the pulley where a bolt should go, but there are no threads in the crank. BTW it was not leaking any oil from the seal so it was relatively stable. So... what, should I just locktite it ???? I´m pretty befuddled on this, please advise!
