what is different about a 75 water pump with no oil cooler verses any other 2f year? can another year fit it properly?

water pumps

Sorry I dont know the answer to your specific questions but thought I'd mention to take care when getting a pump so that the fan will fit and the pump will or wont have the oil cooler fitting. The best combo for me was a 76 with a plastic clutch fan and oil cooler for my 792f in my 71 rig, slight alter of the fan shroud was needed

also not the california versions are different or at least some years are

some other years will fit but you need the pulleys to go with the pump and in some cases the pulleys and the fan shroud.ive interchaged them but have milk crates full of pulleys so it was a matter of rooting til i found the right combo .when they went to the clutch fan the holes in the flange were farther apart also.

yea the one ony my rig does not have the clutch fan- and no shroud to speak of at all-

but its a franken cruiser- 67 body with a 75 2F and 4 speed-

So, you're looking for a direct drive water pump (means no fan clutch) with the long body and no oil cooler? Look at Cool Cruiser's site for nice pics of the various years water pumps (the model I want is discontinued and CCoC doesn't sell them - but the pic is there). I've found that the Waterpumpwarehouse has new GMB pumps at a decent price. You just need to figure out what model you need. GMB is a japanese mfgr.

If you don't have the proper pulleys, Marks Offroad may be able to help.

Good luck.

ahh that makes sense- i noticed last night when i pulled it off it had GMB stamped on it- wonder if there is a model number on it somewhere- would be nice to get a direct replacement-

So, you have the correct fan for the direct drive? I got mine through Mark's. It's basically an Aussie item. I think the pn is 16361-60101.

Let me know how you make out on the pump. I can't tell from the pic, but what I need is the no oil cooler version.

yep i have the direct drive fan on mine- and yes this is the no oil cooler version-

no idea where the fan was sourced, it was on the beast when i got it :)

ill snap a few pics if you like-

of course i may get this sucker and it may not fit- i just bought the non oil cooler pump for the 75-76 model, i did not measure the length like i should have- guess well see next week when it arrives!

I believe the one you want is on the left.

yea i see what your saying- guess we will see when it arrives- they did not list the height on the gmb pumps so hopefully it will match the current gmb direct drive pump i have-

of course after reading a bit i will probably order the 8 blade plastic fan from marks- especially after reading about metal fan blades flying through skid plates-

Very wise decision!

I'm reasonably sure you ordered the correct pump, but I'd still like to know if is truly the no oil cooler version. Thanks, Dan

Hey Man-

I finally recieved the pump this week and yes it is the non-oil cooler pump- and the taller one at that-

ill take pic this evening and post it up!
