Ok so I know what the more obvious thing protruding from the bottom of the front door is (the one toward the right of the picture), but what is the other thing that is connected to the bottom of the vehicle's frame ? Its kinda oval in shape if you were looking up at from the ground.... it's about 6 inches long, about an inch tall ....

I haven't noticed this gizmo on other LX's or Pc's

.... and what a terrible place to mount whatever the heck it is..

:) It's just a weight that is apparently there for vibration dampening reasons. Mine was pulled the minute my running boards came off.
 
Hey Eric, put your flame suit on.
No one knows what to call it, so no one's sure what word or phrase to search, this comes up frequently.
It's a vibration damper.
Go ahead and remove it.
 
That thing is a vibration dampener and can be removed without fear of causing issues. Looks terrible on a vehicle with the running boards removed. Removed mine many years ago and still have them in my basement. Would you like to have it to add to your collection?
Suggest you remove the running board mounts as they tend to catch plastic garbage bags on the road and they flap in the wind.

I want to buy it from you, they make an excellent door stopper. I use one for the side door into the garage, need one more to throw at the dog that keeps s***ting in my yard. I will give you $2 including shipping.
 
Don't listen to these guys. I pulled mine off and six month later found all kinds of spider cracks in my frame around ever bolt hole. Toyota knows best!
 
 
I see that the passenger front bracket is still there. If you haven't already removed it, it's a fun one. Just use one of those thin-neck, long sockets....separate the AC lines going to the back just enough to squeeze the socket in and then remove it. Also......harmonic damper.

Search "titles only" for "what is this" or "what is this on the frame"?
