Hello all, Canadian traveller in Australia here with a few questions.

I am looking at buying a 1986 landcrusier but after a few hours of searching on here I still cant find out exactly what is it.

Its a short wheelbase rig, coil suspension front a rear, 22r and a 5spd. When I looked at it I didnt look at the door tag or anything and I came on here to get some more info.. seems that most everything on here has got leafs?

Can anyone tell me more about this rig and what its called? (LJ71, 78, 80?? HZJ?? 80?? Landcruiser II?? Bundera!? ) verry confusing!

any help would be appreciated, and when I get the camera back I'll post up some pics!

cheers

Sounds like a Bundera. My mate had one with a 22r in it. What the model code is I dont recall. I do remember him having a lot of problems with the head, valves and overheating
If you can find one, you would be better off buying a diesel (well thats my opnion) they are plentyful, and will work out more economical on the vast klms you may be travelling.
Thats my opnion....

Well I had another look at it today and decided to buy it, should be finishing up the deal tomorrow night.

so if this is a light duty does that mean its got the same axles as a toyota p/u? Oh and its already got a 3" lift and 33" bfg mt's

Anyone else on here have one of thes?

Anyone from oz wanna do some wheeling?

Well since we are travelling on a budget, a v6 swap isnt in the cards right now. ;) also this rig is sporting a rebuilt motor with only 5k on it.

I always thought that the 22r was a fairly rugged motor? Not a powerhouse by any means, but back home my old 20r and a few of my friends with newer 22r's and re's havent had any problems to speak of?

crushers: you ever do any wheeling in BC? I'm from kamloops

i have wanted to for years but the timing has never worked...
i did do a bit of "wheeling" at the dirt bike pit just north of Kamloops back a few years in a red FZJ80. i loved the look on the dirt bikers faces when i drove over the embankment and up 3 (of the 4??) runs.
Berni has a very close friend that lives in town and we go visit every couple years.

the little 4 banger will be fine, a bit slow but as long as yo don't abuse it those engines can be quite surprising...
enjoy your holiday (post up pics)
cheers

Well since I don't have any pictures of the landcrusier I can post up one of my rig back home

If you want to travel oz, a HJ60 or even a Patrol wagon would be better.
You can save a lot of money and time bedding down in the back of a LWB.

Its probably too late to change your mind now so good luck with your trip.

If you need help or advice on parts try Outer Limits ,3rd Rock from the sun and Exploroz for travellers info

i once owned a bundera (RJ70). they're alright but unless you do a few mods to it, i wouldn't give it too much stick in the sand.

X3, but who wheres a skirt and a white t-shirt to go wheeling?
