I need help finding out what this part goes to. I think it's a tire carrier (based on the plate with holes) but not sure.

Con fer jerry can holder. Goes on the tire carrier. I think if memory serves with tire in place.

Looks something like the old Con-Fer jeery can carrier the would bolt on after the spare and hold a five gallon jerry can. The adjustment on the end was to lock the can in place.

Wow, thanks. I was WAY off. Looked like it had something to do with the wheel though from looking at the bolt pattern. Thanks again.

you were not off, you were right, just backwards sorta, it does attach to a wheel, but not to hold the wheel, to hold the jerry can

A Mud friend just gave me one. I drilled a hole through the mount the can holder part mounts to and I am now using it as a Hi-Lift mount. The one I have is for sure a Con-fer one. Looks exactly like that but it is unpainted. still has the Con-fer labels. There were two styles, one for the Tube Tire carriers, and one for the Door style. The angle is a little a little different on the can holder mount. I think yours is for the door style because the can holder is inline with the mount. On the tube style carrier it is angled just a little.

Used. Con fer has been gone a while.

Is the one pictured a Con-Fer jerry can carrier? I picked up one in a group of parts many years ago and haven't seen it in years. But I remember mine is smaller at the base and just supports the lip of can nothing more. This one looks like it would go about half way across the bottom. The top looks the same. Mine had a lock on it that I didn't get the key with. One of these days I going to have to grind it off. Like this one mine is fixed but I remember Downey selling one that could be expanded for larger tires. I'm sure Johnny has a old catalog with a picture.

Anyone know when Con-Ferr finally closed up shop? And why?
