Early 4wd vacuum selector, not sure the actual name for it. It’s connected to a dash knob via cable to put it in 4wd.
Check with @orangefj45, @cruiseroutfit, or @65swb45 good chance between the three they will have one

I’m going to do a proper update in Linda thread, but I’m finishing up the sniper install on my 1978 FJ40 “Linda.”

Lots of “this is what we’ve got lying around the shop” finalizing a few bits. There were more broken bolts than I care to count, I forgot to order a few things to make things more seamless, I don’t love the charcoal canister setup, the IAC is ridiculously high, but it starts, doesn’t leak fuel, and the AF is good. Looking forward to getting her back on the road!

Edit: I passed up a Downey air cleaner a while back, but if anybody has one on the shelf, let me know.

Having been there, it’s not as straight forward as you’d hope. How did you do it? Did you use universal wipers, crack them open and flip the cam?

Thats what I did on my ‘67. I’ve got it hooked up to a later switch since my rotary switch was missing its knob (before I had access to a 3D printer) and I wanted to add a washer fluid reservoir.

just had to rewire some stuff in the housing....they arrived switched on the ground side, changed them to switched on the positive side. nothing needed to happen with the cams.
