Tackled my first oil and filter change, I know, sacrilegious that I've trusted a guy. Though hes done my truck no wrong, it was time to pull the trigger. Not a fan of the cartridge style filters thats for sure. Did the daily as well and that also has one, so I got to experience the hate twice. On the LC I was also able to get the Fumoto on without removing the #BudBuilt skids....took someones advice of curling up a file folder, wasn't the cleanest or smoothest, but anything I'm involved in usually isn't. Otherwise Big Booty Judy goes back to sitting in the driveway until either Fall Crawl or COTR.

In my typical fashion doing last minute COTR prep and have a list so long I'll never complete it by Saturday morning...
drained and filled all 3 diffs with Amsoil severe gear, found the prior service before my ownership had used a healthy amount of anti-sieze on the front diff mount bolts and lowest bolt almost fully backed out, upper 2 not even hand tight....

Every Single Time I get under one of my vehicles, I am reminded why I don't trust anyone else to do anything without effing it up and I sincerely hate that that is the case.

I’ve been looking at this stuff but I don’t understand what the different grades offer or what grade I want or need.
I know you have. I read up on it on BITOG.

Bought the best passenger car oil they make.

<1,000 miles a year on the 20 Cruiser
<2,500 miles a year on the 4Runner
<5.000 miles a year on the LXs.

I did a thing to the LX.

On the nose here. Some quibbling about "best," but can say I run this in all my cars with zero hesitation about it being the "best" to me. I just ordered a few quarts myself.

Is there a thread on here detailing why this product is an improvement?

There's a lot of pontificating here, but to go beyond some scratching of the surface you will have to go to the bob oil forum.

IF you want to get into the mud throwing about oil weights, etc on here...

Nice. I do love a good technical read. I’ll probably just stick to what I use. It’s gotten me to 300k so far, can’t be too bad right? Wait, 3UR. I’m in the 200 forum again. Yeah I’ve wanted to switch the 5.7 to 5w30 just to have my vehicles on the same juice. I’ll read up. Thanks

The interval is the biggest deciding factor over anything else.

That being said, it’s nice to be able to stretch that interval some if you do long extended road trips. I try to change mine between 5k-6.5k miles but knowing I can stretch to 7.5k or more without harm is nice insurance to have.
