I Installed a short fixed antenna conversion kit. I detailed the process on my build thread linked below:

Ordered new bushings for the front sway bar.

Got my new fuel filter a few days ago, figured I have time today and so I started the process. And this is what I saw!

I went back to the history of the truck, no records of anything of fuel filter replacement indicated anywhere. So just like what I thought 4 months ago when I got the truck and inspected it, the fuel filter seemed it was still the original one back from 2006 and 233k miles after!

Here’s a side by side photo of the old and new fuel filter i got from Ian (@ranma21):

Included are two copper? washer seals to ensure no fuel leak on the fittings

After dealing with the nut almost seizing up on me (I used painters tape by the way and wrapped the nut with it so it won’t slip and eventually ruining it) new filter is installed. If you haven’t changed your filter yet, I strongly suggest you do it. Got this from Ian for just $25 shipped! Inexpensive yet it will give you the peace of mind and prevent fouling on your truck’s combustion chamber due to dirty fuel. A must.

Again, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Did you fill the gas tank with gravy or something?

I did a thing

New 275/65/18 BFG's... replaced 5 year old Michelins that only had 32K miles on them but were wearing un-Michelin-like. Anyone else noticing a decrease in the quality of Michelins or is this my imagination?

I must say the BFG's look right at home with the Slee Sliders!

Washed all the seatbelts.

I'm not sure if either of the previous owners ever did this. If not, this is what 270,000 miles worth of hand grime looks like:

IMG_20190825_120513.jpg

Procedure:
1) Extended seatbelts all the way and then held them in place with clamps
2) Shut doors, attempting to get as much of the belts outside of the truck as possible
3) Coated belts with foaming car upholstery cleaner
4) Used power washer with wide fan spray pattern to wash seatbelts, starting at the top, working down, and then doing the opposite side

Ok so more like a “this month” time frame but mainly fixed up and sold my Tacoma so now attention can turn to the LX. Kids think it looks like a big marshmallow going down the road and since it’s 100% a dedicated camping vehicle marshmallows belong over a fire being toasted hence “Toasty” is now her name.

Firstly cleaned outside and in as there was a ton of dog hair and dog smell from PO. Conditioned the seats twice, ceramic waxed it twice, broke the antenna, replaced a few clamps to stem a PS leak (much more to do there). Also removed side steps and factory roof rack and used up some scrap metal I had kicking around to weld up A couple of roof bars and feet. It let us move the tent over and go camping that weekend. Sits as close to the roof as I dare put it both with regards to flex and just simply squeezing my hand under there to mount the tent. Left extra tube to later fab up some extendable arms for bike racks, boats, limber, etc. that’s for another day though. Inside diameter is 1.015” which means 1 inch square tube slides right into it for future use.
