Well its no fancy red bling bling, but I finally got around to replacing the very annoying speedo cable squeal! When it first showed its ugly head, I tried the graphite trick, applied at the gauge cluster end and spinning the rear wheels. That only lasted 4-ish months before the sound returned. So here I am. A little tight reaching the metal clips/tabs right above the tranny. While I had the dash in pieces, I investigated my electrical draw and slight water intrusion (the floor pan plug is old and not sealing well).

Procrastination is an art. I’ve had trail tailor lower shock guards on the workbench for 3+ weeks.
Saturday I managed to ding the driver side lower shock.

Not bad at all but needed to file the bolt a bit.

So finally installed the guards this afternoon:

Also adjusted the parking brake (been procrastinating that a couple months too)

Been a long while since I dug out this tool.

Have a 62 I got a while back. Finally fixing a few things. Someone worked on it a lot and hence it has many issues. 0 greese in the knuckle. Rebuilt it like a domestic apparently. All knuckle shims non existent. So re centered them today. Had to replace everything. Was not nearly as messy as it should have been. But that ruined pretty much everything. Even had to replace diff bearings. Vacuum shift solenoid was bad so front axle has been spinning for decades. Still have a bunch to do on the 3FE. But at least front axle is good.

Treated the leather, I’m not big on fragrance but this stuff makes me want to get in the truck.

Also read about shin etsu silicone grease somewhere on Mud, got a tube and treated my rubber door gaskets and window trims.

Wow, good looking structure! Plaid doesn’t suck either….

Custom winter insulation. +5hp too
Where'd you get the custom parts and what shop did the install? I bet it likely adds closer to 105hp!

Extended breathers- fun project in the evenings this week,
fully introduced to Land Cruiser yoga getting the transmission and transfer breathers hooked up.
Front and rear diffs were comparatively easy.

Should give me a little extra comfortable fording depth- bring on the Judith!

Checked the 4Runners antifreeze this morning with-35 on the weather app to find a slushy.

Found a horrible noise coming from my clutch last week. Parked the Prado until I can find time to pull the transmission and investigate. Most likely culprit is the adapter plate not being properly centered, this is the second clutch it has eaten in the past 35k miles.
